Title: Clueless
Post by: Howey on February 02, 2012, 09:16:23 am
Really...how can anyone be so stupid? (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/01/mitt-romney-very-poor_n_1246557.html)

Quote
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said on Wednesday that he's "not concerned about the very poor," citing the social safety net in place for that segment of the populace and adding that he's focused on the middle class.

"I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it," the Republican front-runner said Wednesday on CNN, following his victory in the Florida primary. "I'm not concerned about the very rich, they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling."

CNN's Soledad O'Brien pressed him on his comments, adding that they may sound odd for Americans who are very poor.

"Well you had to finish the sentence, Soledad," he replied. "I said 'I'm not concerned about the very poor that have a safety net but if it has holes in it, I will repair them.' The challenge right now -- we will hear from the Democrat party the plight of the poor. And there's no question it's not good being poor and we have a safety net to help those that are very poor. But my campaign is focused on middle-income Americans."

This is what Chuck's trying to tell lilMike...make all the money you want but goddamit have a fucking heart, willya?

From the very right wing Weekly Standard (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/mitt-romney-im-not-concerned-very-poor_620825.html):

Quote
It's obvious that Romney's statement that he's "not concerned about the very poor" is incredibly tone-deaf. A candidate can say he's "focused" on the middle class without saying he's "not concerned" about the very poor, just as a candidate can say he's "focused" on the economy without saying he's "not concerned" about national security or even less vital issues like education.

But Romney's remark isn't merely tone-deaf, it's also un-conservative. The standard conservative argument is that a conservative economic agenda will help everyone.... Had Mitt Romney picked up his conservatism sooner, perhaps he would know these arguments by heart.

Fearless election prediction: Obama: 99% Romney 1%

ouch!

it really was an amazingly stupid remark..

The whole thing is just wrong..

"I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor.

he cares about Americans, and he's not concerned about the very poor... are they not Americans too? I guess he doesn't think so.

I was wondering why Drudge hasn't picked this up... until I read this on another story..

Quote
The website POLITICO also reported it, but on Thursday, it backtracked. Citing Matt Drudge of the website Drudge Report, who has a relationship with top Romney officials, POLITICO's Maggie Haberman said Trump may actually be endorsing Romney.

that makes sense now..

well I guess we'll see this new stupid statement from Mitt along with his "I like to fire people" in some ad soon..
