Title: is it really a 'zinger'
Post by: ekg on October 03, 2012, 11:21:35 am
...if you've been practicing it since August? I mean, aren't they supposed to be 'off the cuff', spontaneously witty, remarks?

This worries me.

The New York Times, reporting on Mitt Romney’s debate prep, notes that “Mr. Romney’s team has concluded that debates are about creating moments and has equipped him with a series of zingers that he has memorized and has been practicing on aides since August. His strategy includes luring the president into appearing smug or evasive about his responsibility for the economy.”

and if someone has to write a zinger for you to practice... should you really be trying to 'zing' someone else? I mean, isn't that fact that he's practicing 'zingers' for 3 month.. a zinger in itself? as in..

"That's a great reply Govenor, did you come up with on your own or is that one of the Zingers your people wrote for you to help you sound human?"

Buuuuuuuuuuhzzzing!

and will Obama use this information TOO zing the practiced zinger..

oh, before I forget... what kind of stupid releases that kind of information anyway?

I swear all the build up is fake.  We've become such a reality T.V. society...even Presidential Debates have gotten in on the act.  I imagine the Exe Producers from all the media corporate players...laying it out like Don King to their show hosts..."Sell this mutha fucka like it's the clash of two Titans!"

Since this morning, as I flipped through the channels...the only news channel I've seen handling this with it's appropriate news worthy level of non-fight hype is Channel 13 Brighthouse news.  Everyone else is going over the top ape shit like it's Ali vs. Frazier.

dumbass..

but yeah, cnn covered it for 3 days back when it happened..Tucker Carlson covered, which is hilarious that his site the daily caller now says "OMG, NO ONE COVERED IT"...

The 2007 event was open to the press, and CNN affiliate WAVY recorded the full speech. The crux of his speech was reported by CNN at the time on air and online.

The speech was reported on or discussed multiple times on CNN over a three day period.

Segments aired on the "The Situation Room" and CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on June 5, 2007, which was also the day of a CNN Republican presidential debate.

The next day, CNN anchor Paula Zahn noted in her program, "Because of the Republican debate, you might have missed a new controversy involving Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama." Her program, "Paula Zahn Now," included a report on the comments and a panel discussion. A report by CNN Correspondent Mary Snow on the racial aspect of the comments also ran on CNN that day.

there are some things that are beyond absurd... this is one of them. But the GOP is experts at taking the absurd and making it reality..
