Title: This is why he's the Big Dawg. Post by: ekg on March 13, 2013, 01:15:55 pm So the guy who recorded Mitt's famous "47%" speech to a room full of his peers is finally coming out... and he said Bill Clinton's the reason he ultimately recorded Mitt.. Not because of any speeh Bubbba gave, but something more... cool.
Quote HuffPost has agreed to withhold the name of the surreptitious filmmaker until he breaks his silence on MSNBC's "The Ed Show" Wednesday evening, followed by an appearance on HuffPost Live Thursday morning. In interviews over the last several months, he laid out his thinking before and after Romney's speech. The man, who tended bar for a company that catered to a high-end clientele, had previously worked at a fundraiser at a home where Clinton spoke. After Clinton addressed guests, the man recalled, the former president came back to the kitchen and thanked the staff, the waiters, the bartenders, the busboys, and everyone else involved in putting the event together. He shook hands, took photos, signed autographs, and praised the meal -- all characteristic of the former president. and that's why Bubba wins. It's what separates him from the rest. something that minor, but grand. It's not that he does it, it that he's sincere about it as well.. anyway, back to Mitt Quote When the bartender learned he would be working at Romney's fundraiser, his first thought was to bring his camera, in case he had a chance to get a photo with the presidential candidate. Romney, of course, did not speak to any of the staff, bussers or waiters. He was late to the event, and rushed out. He told his dinner guests that the event was off the record, but never bothered to repeat the admonition to the people working there. It doesn't make him a douche that he didn't thank the wait-staff.. because I'm sure many (D) or (R) wouldn't think of doing it either... But when you wonder why Bill Clinton is loved by so many people.. it's these little things like this that really matter.. Title: Re: This is why he's the Big Dawg. Post by: uselesslegs on March 13, 2013, 02:56:18 pm As they say, "It's the little things." Some people just "have it." Some people, even those who make an effort, just never will. Try as they might, even with the most genuine intentions, come off forced and awkward. If Bill and Mitt both lived in the same town, and their lives were much more modest, just regular schlubs, Bill would be the guy all the staff, owner, and regulars at the local mom and pop diner everyone ate at on Sunday...shot the shit with or warmed up to quickly if they hadn't met him yet. Mitt would be the polite man, who while nice, was awkward to talk to beyond generalities or taking his order. |
