Title: Science, Looisiana Style! Post by: Howey on March 26, 2014, 07:12:00 pm Wow...
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/03/17/judge-rules-against-creationist-teacher-who-called-buddhist-students-faith-stupid/ Quote The parents of a Buddhist student in Louisiana ridiculed by a creationist teacher won their lawsuit against the school district, the American Civil Liberties Union revealed Friday. The student, known as C.C., was asked by sixth-grade teacher Rita Roark to answer the following question on a test: “ISN’T IT AMAZING WHAT THE _____________ HAS MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” When C.C. failed to respond “Lord,” Roark responded “you’re stupid if you don’t believe in God.” She also frequently denigrated his Buddhist faith, as well as the Hindu faith, referring to both as “stupid.” When his parents complained to Sabine Parish Superintendent Sara Ebarb, they were told that “this is the Bible belt,” so they should expect to find the Christian God in the classroom. Ebarb advised them that if they wanted an ungodly classroom, they should transfer C.C. to a school where “there are more Asians.” That ain't all... The teacher Rita Roark, is the SCIENCE TEACHER in this PUBLIC school. Here's more from the ACLU complaint (https://www.laaclu.org/press/2014/012214.htm): Quote His science teacher, Rita Roark, has repeatedly taught students that the Earth was created by God 6,000 years ago, that evolution is “impossible,” and that the Bible is “100 percent true.” HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS STUFF ALLOWED IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL??? Quote Beyond Roark's classroom, the school also regularly incorporates official Christian prayer into class and school events. School officials display religious iconography throughout hallways and classrooms, including a large portrait of Jesus Christ, and an electronic marquee in front of the school scrolls Bible verses as students enter the building. The school board supported and defended her. And she wasn't fired. Title: Re: Science, Looisiana Style! Post by: uselesslegs on March 27, 2014, 02:47:20 pm Creationists remind me of the following youtube vid. I know they honestly feel the scientific community just isn't "listening", but in fact, as the scientific method goes...it is creationists who do not listen. They do not understand what "God of the gaps" means, even as they're engaging in it.

I laughed so hard I gave myself a coughing fit..LOL this will end when we have a 'white' president again who can afford to defend the 'separation of church and state' without fear that he/she is just implementing a muslim jihad against a white God. then again, the damage might be to wide spread to reign back in... so we'll be stuck with a generation or two of incredible idiocy... on the bright side... atleast the GOP has found a way to compete with the expand (D) base(hispanics).. they're just creating a new base with their idiocy |
