Title: Joplin, Missouri Taken Hostage Post by: Howey on May 24, 2011, 04:41:48 pm at the hands of none other than Eric Cantor:
(http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/55513.html) Quote The No. 2 House Republican said that if Congress doles out additional money to assist in the aftermath of natural disasters across the country, the spending may need to be offset. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said “if there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental.” Finding ways to offset disaster relief funds could be a significant challenge for House Republicans and would put their promise to cut spending to a true test. Roughly 100 people have died in Joplin, Mo., in the last few days after a tornado cut through the town. (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/839f3a1f46.jpg) (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/) Since when do we take funds for national disasters as hostage to get budget cuts elsewhere?Does this man (loosely said) have a fucking heart? The worst destruction in decades from a tornado, and he doesn't want to provide help until such and such is stricken from the budget???? I'm sure the citizens of Joplin, Missouri (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CEsQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2011%2F05%2F23%2Fus%2F23tornado.html&ei=nBjcTaLgM5Gatwf_hsnCDw&usg=AFQjCNHOit1FQuESiaoDzUaCNZW_4zeFVA), appreciate Mr. (loosely said) Cantor's compassion. ::) Title: Re: Joplin, Missouri Taken Hostage Post by: ekg on May 25, 2011, 09:01:23 am Does this man (loosely said) have a fucking heart? The worst destruction in decades from a tornado, and he doesn't want to provide help until such and such is stricken from the budget???? no, he wants to make it look like Obama doesn't want to help... duh. the card he'll play is "It's a disgrace that President Obama refused to work with us to help these poor tornado victims".. and Fox will run with it. No one will pay attention that in order for the President to 'work with' them he has to give up his right nut.. nooo, that won't be mentioned at all. the only thing that will get a mention is how disgusting this president is for making this a partsian issue by not working with Cantor (I agree btw and doesn't he just come off as ... 'slimey'?)... Title: Re: Joplin, Missouri Taken Hostage Post by: uselesslegs on May 25, 2011, 01:06:06 pm I'd have believed the fiscal sincerity more, if Cantor had mentioned something like, "if, we must pay as we go, perhaps the oil subsidies can go towards helping these unfortunate victims...it's monies already allotted where it is not needed." I snickered...IN MY PANTS (not to be confused with nougat) |
