Title: The Grand Ol' Party's Almost Over
Post by: Howey on July 30, 2011, 01:15:43 pm
Don't believe what you're hearing on tv. My "boss" in DC tells me that Obama, Reid and McConnell are working on a deal to end the current hostage crisis.

Progressives like me won't like it, but considering the current situation in the House, it had to be done.

Big winners will be the above-named trio. Big losers will be Boehner, who is now ineffectual, and the Party he represented before its takeover by the extreme, irrational right wing faction known as the tea party. Fortunately, IMO the biggest winner is the American people.

McConnell's a lot more reasonable and doesn't have to answer to a bunch of backwoods teabaggers. They've absolutely ruined Boehner's credibility. He'd be better off as a fly on the wall, listening to Cantor make an ass of himself.

Oh.

Wait...

McConnell's the one who has repeatedly said his only goal is to make sure Obama is not re-elected.. BUT, he does care about the 'GOP' brand and will not allow it to be tarnished more than it already has been by the Tea-party.. so yeah, he's the one who Reid would probably have to work with..

As of about 10 minutes ago, a deal has been cut. I'll give my opinion on it tomorrow.

President Barack Obama and Republican congressional leaders reached historic agreement Sunday night on a compromise to permit vital U.S. borrowing by the Treasury in exchange for more than $2 trillion in long-term spending cuts

bullshit...

there was no compromise... there was only Obama, once again, caving in and the Tea-party getting 100% of it's way..

Krugman is right to a point, although that's the exact headline I expect from Drudge. They've got "The World Goes On" and "How the Tea Party Won"  ::)

My "heads up" was pretty accurate. Funny how both sides are claiming a "win" when in all actuality there are no winners.

HuffPo is all over the Prez:

I'll have more later. Gotta go cash my gov check... ;D
