It irks and bothers me that misunderstanding, on both our parts, kept us from shooting the shit for X number of years, like we had on a regular basis prior.  Though we touched base after the misunderstanding was cleared up, we didn't get back into the groove we had before, which could have been smoothed over I'm quite sure...had we had the time.

A lot of people loathed his web persona, which made them loathe him in real life.

That comment is going somewhere in just a second.

I looked forward to our talks, which I miss and missed.  I would have like to have met up one last time over some drinks and a good long bullshit session.  I remember making him laugh until he choked and yelled, "God damnit!", on a regular basis before our snafu.

As to the web persona comment above.  While I have many friends, friends I consider close, that I've made and still have from the Monsters/Real Radio days, Darth was the only one, prior to our misunderstanding, and then started again after it cleared up, who would shoot the shit with me when I called, or call me to shoot the shit on a regular basis.  With the exception of EKG who has talked my ears off over the years, and me likewise,  all of the people who consider me a close friend, who speak of me in close terms...he was the only one who made the effort to pick up the phone and call, like EKG, or pick up the phone when I called and not give me the sense that I was intruding or bothering.

I'll always regret that I wasn't more aggressive when our communication fell off, as to why it did...especially when it was something that was so easily fixed with a few words.  Those were years I lost, that weren't made up for, even when things were cleared up.

That made sense in my fuck'in head.

it made complete sense.. and you're absolutely right! with the exception of you, D was the only 'board' friend I ever had 'real life' contact with on a regular basis. Molly and I used to talk to each other but that dropped off after I stopped going out to gigs so much, but it never did with D. LOL I don't know if he told each new secretary about me or what but when I'd call the new one would say "I'm sorry he's in with a patient can I take a message and have him call you back?" and I would say "Tell the old man it's Kelly".. and 9 out of 10 times he'd pick up the phone and say "What do you want bitch" in that totally singular and immediately identifiable rasping voice of his.. and if it wasn't phone calls, it was emails..extremely personal emails.. we were each others 'psychiatrist'... nothing was off the table in our talks no matter how embarrassing or personal.. or financial...Hell, we'd even exchange Christmas gifts every year and every year he'd send me the new 'Christmas photo'..

for all the people that just never 'got him' and hated him... I could never get them and it really made me wonder about what kind of personal issues they carried around in their real lives....

I can tell you Chuck that he never held any animosity towards you about anything. Once I explained to him the limitations of your lifestyle he totally understood. I think you probably go thru that alot, people either seeing you out or 'reading' you online and then not thinking you're really *that* disabled.. not realizing that  yeah you went out, but then it took you a week to recover from the excursion.. or yeah you posted a tome, but that was the last you typed out for the next 4 day while your dexterity took a break...When I explained that you weren't as healthy as you appeared to be, he understood and never held anything against you..
