So I guess that discounts the riot in Keene, N.H. at a friggin Pumpkin festival in October for fucks sake, because...a frat party was shut down. Or the countless riots as a result of sports. A definite expression of hopelessness and helplessness there...oi.
Context is everything...and while I'd never condone the destruction of property and people's livelihood, a perceived injustice, sparking feelings, that manifest themselves in the form of extreme anger, lashing out against whatever is near, can be understood. Again, not condoned, but understood.
I'd wager that only a very small percentage of those who engaged in the rioting in Ferguson, were individuals who truly felt a sense of desperation and outrage that, unfortunately and inexcusably, expressed themselves through destruction, and the rest were just opportunists who could give a shit what the reason was to steal and cause mayhem.
I also noticed that the narrative about Keene, was quickly and quite sensibly attributed to assholes who didn't represent the whole of Keene, whereas the assholes in Ferguson, most certainly were a reflection of, and statement about. the majority.
How fucking quaint.
