This is a handy-dandy table of the presidential announcements, in chronological order. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the first to announce and the assumption is that Jim Gilmore (R-VA) will be the last to announce. That will then make for 17 GOP candidates and 5 DEM candidates:

(right click, open in a new tab to see a much larger version)

It's also handy-dandy to see exactly how many days before the 2016 GE each candidate announced, and when he or she drops out, I will also calculate the entire length of the campaigns, respectively.

e of all of the presidential announcements to date, in table format:

thanks; my husband & I were wracking our brains last night wondering if Perry and Huckabee had actually announced.

Only 17? can't they make it to 20? they should work on it! Must be a few more out there. Herman Cain? Sara Palin? Michelle Bachman? Declare, people! get it to 20!

LOL!!!!

I've been researching this. In all of our history, there have never been this many declared candidates for the primary process for any party. This is a really new phenomenon. Of course, imo, only 5 will have a realistic shot at the nomination: Bush, Walker, Kasich, Rubio and (sigh) Trump. If Trump fizzles, and sadly to report, he may, then Carson could come into play.

But I see a real possibility of a hung convention in 1940, uh, 1944, uh 1948, uh, oh yeah, 2016!!!

Lots of them are falling to the wayside right now because the Trumpliblican vs. 2016.1 is sucking all of their oxygen out of the room.

Cheesy

Trump is keeping it fun! He went after Walker. And rightfully so - Walker keeps bragging about what he did in Wisconsin, but it wasn't anything worth bragging about.

I think Trump is getting so much attention just because he isn't boring. I would hate to see him as president, but for right now - goooo Trump!
