I am very against privatizing prisons.. there are just some things that the gov't (state or fed) should always do, and prisons are one... cops, firemen another...

it's already been proven that the PP is corrupt. You have judges getting kick backs to incarcerate people.. children in one case. These systems are not 'non-profit'.. so in order to make money, they must have more inmates and house/care for them at a lower rate... there is just something evil about a society that profits like this..

we've had this discussion before... the GAO has said

Quote
We could not conclude from these
studies that privatization of correctional facilities will not save money.
However, these studies do not offer substantial evidence that savings have
occurred.

and so has pretty much every other study..   they just don't do what they are billed to do, while inviting (more)corruption of the justice system..  which has been proven..

I don't even need get into the problems of the 'minimum wage', high turn around staff... that comes with a 'private' prison.. since just the 'it's cheaper' mantra has been proven wrong almost each and every time..

this is like the 'drug test for welfare' crap... http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-february-2-2012/poor-pee-ple

it's just more 'fear' and 'snake oil' being sold by a select group of politicians.. just a quick google of the above shows quite a few states getting ready to jump on the drug test fiasco bus...

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them.  Balance is irrelevant to me.  It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)
