I respect your question ekg and there is certainly a time and place for isolated sting ops. However it's admitted information that the underwear bomber was put on the plane by fbi witnessed by Kurt Haskel, lawyer and whistle blower who is now running for congress because of the incident.
Just one example of absolute power corrupting absolutely ie toiling away at scenarios for setting up stings and unfortunately much worse.
Michael Chertof is of course the owner of the company who had already began manufacturing full body scanners before the underwear bomber which have been found to be very inefficient(

Did the FBI make him light his panties on fire too?
see, that's where you lose me.. yea ok, maybe he wouldn't have designed the bomb, maybe he wouldn't have bough the supplies, maybe he wouldn't have stitched it all together, maybe he wouldn't have undressed, then redressed himself with the bomb, maybe he wouldn't have gotten into the car and driven to the airport, maybe he wouldn't have waited in line to check in, maybe he wouldn't have waited in the terminal for the plane to board, maybe he wouldn't have boarded, put on his seat belt, and waited for the plane to take off.. maybe he wouldn't have done any of that without the FBI there with the obvious gun to his head making him do all those things on his own, but he did try and blow the panties up on his own.. and that's no longer 'collusion' or 'entrapment'..
you want to see big brother everywhere.. fine, but you haven't demonstrated it in this case.. yelling entrapment only gets you so far.. but when you've done 95% of it on you're own, it really doesn't get you anywhere..
as for the idea that the FBI put him up to it? Tell that to Al Qieda..
Detroit terror attack: al-Qaeda regional group claims responsibility
A regional wing of al-Qaeda, known as al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, has claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas Day attack on a US-bound passenger plane.
