I have to concur.  I can't say he was a favorite and I might not have agreed with some of his social takes, but I always respected his ability (or willingness) to go against the grain, whether it upset repubs or dems,  with some common sense in his game.

Now he's no different than any other pol trying to garner superficial support by playing fringe footsies.

Sad.
