In their mind, "dirty tricks", is telling the truth, re-spinning the spin back on them with facts, basically...fighting back.  "Ohhhhh, you dirty assholes!"

It's like Rove saying the other day, pretty bluntly but without any real example in tow, that Dem's "Engaged in voter suppression", I was like "Whaaaaaaaaaa?"  His reaaaallllyy long reach for it was that Dem's started a smear campaign on Romney early on...WHICH...was a form of suppression...because the voters never "really" got to know Mitt. *fart*

So the guy who sat in nodding approval of Voter ID, mass voter purges, Dem heavy precincts being under supplied thus creating lines that resulted in 4 to 6 to 8 hour waits to vote (not just in Florida, but abroad), early voting being seriously fucked with, placing signs and billboards all over to suggest or scare eligible voters into believing they weren't eligible. <----THAT...all of that, *wasn't* voter suppression...but introducing the public at large to Romney's Bain time, reminding everyone how far right he went to garner support (to magically swing back once he got it) and his refusal to release more than two years of hand-picked tax returns...is...suppression.

Rove and the rest of them are the kids who add a shit ton of additional rules to the game, rules that specifically benefit them and  them only, and they don't see a damn thing wrong with it.  THEN...they lose their fuck'in minds, if you beat them at the game, despite their advantage...and then they have the BALLS to tell you...YOU'RE a god damn cheater!  I mean that takes a tsunami of disconnect and sense of privilege to say with a straight face.
