and now their Great Sage and Visionary has spoken..

Quote
On his program on Thursday, Limbaugh advised Republicans to completely withdraw in order to "find out just how willing [Obama] is to take the country over the cliff."

"The way to handle that, the way to call his bluff on this is to not negotiate with him and leave it up to him what happens," he said. "Very publicly walk away from the talks so that whatever happens vis-à-vis the cliff is perceived to happen -- well, the real point will be to flush Obama out, find out. I would suggest to people who really believe Obama is concerned about his second term and his legacy -- he doesn't want a recession -- the only way to flush that out is to come dangerously close to allowing it all to happen."

1st.. if the Pubs do this. Just turn their backs, refuse to negotiate and walk away.. um, how is it what happens Obama's fault exactly?

ex. There is a very large rock hanging over the head of 10 people.. 2 'strongmen' are holding it up.. One says  "We really need to work together on this to make this rock easier to hold and not let it fall and crush the 10 people below us"..the other says "No.That's it..I'm not working with you any longer.. I'm leaving".. and the rock falls as he does.. killing 8 out of the 10.. How is the one who walked away NOT to blame?

2nd. The smartest thing I heard was kinda mentioned in passing when I was waiting to pay for something in line yesterday.. a couple of guys in suits were waiting and talking about politics (it's seriously everywhere).. one guy said "I'm ok with Obama raising my taxes back to what they used to be anyway.. it's better than the loss I'll take if the assholes don't do something and stocks start to tumble again"..

Halleluiah..! yes, paying 4% more.. not on the whole $250K, but whatever you made over that $250K.. isn't going to kill you.. but another 2008 is you idiots!

I 'huh'd' at what the guy said.. with a smile.. he looked at me like 'wtf are you looking at' kinda dickishly.. (probably thought I was laughing at his 'liberal Marxist' self' or something).. and I said "No, sorry.. that's just the smartest thing I've heard in a month"..

Pushing the 'fiscal cliff' on this only damages us more.. if our ratings get downgraded again, we pay more in interests rates.. thus paying more money back that we don't have.. It forces 'small business' who might have just started to expand again.. to restrict growth again because holy shit, a recession the likes we've never seen is coming on.. and inflation will destroy us all..help-me!help Me!

as opposed to making Mitt Romney and the 1% pay the same thing in taxes his chauffeur pays?

This should be a no-brainer.. but it looks like the GOP is happy to give it all away in a doomsday scenario that will reduce their own wealth by trillions... instead of

The numbers look intimidating at first. Obama would raise the tax rate from 33 percent to 36 percent on household incomes between $247,000 and $398,350. (The ceiling for individuals is $200,000.) Any earnings above that would be taxed at 39.6 percent, compared to the current top level of 35 percent. For those above that ceiling, tax rates on capital gains and dividends would also climb, a key change since many retirees and wealthy individuals derive their income from investments.

But families with $250,000 to $300,000 in taxable income would on average owe an additional $199 a year, according to projections drawn from Census and IRS data by the progressive Citizens for Tax Justice. That works out to $16 a month, enough to reduce the number of afternoon stops at Starbucks but not so devastating that the beach vacation gets canceled.

The Tax Foundation calculator estimates that a typical two-child household with $400,000 in salary and investment income would pay $3,541 more in taxes under Obama. Those figures build to the point that a family earning $10 million to $20 million would see their bill balloon by almost $700,000.

the horror.. oh the ever loving horror of it all..

I make $300K a year.. OMG Obama will make me pay an addition $200 in  taxes.. Oh the injustice of it all! I might have to actually save those pennies I put in the 'give one/take one' penny jar at the 7/11 to get by..

I make $400K a year.. that damned socialist Kenyan is going to make me pay $3500 more at the end of the year.. there goes bubble gum for my children this year!"

UGH! I made $20million.. I'll have to pay $700K.. I don't know that I can live on just $19.3 million a year! In this economy? It'll be tough..

It's fucking insane..

and more insanity..

that's only 2% of the population... the other 98% get a break! When did democracy come to mean 100%? When did it go from a 'simple majority' to an overwhelming landslide, even absence isn't as reliable for birth control so sew your cooch closed instead, majority?

and if you want to get really really technical... everyone gets a break.. Because the Clinton tax was on the whole earning.. all of it. Obama's stays the same for everything from everyone making >$250K a year.. the rate increase only affect what you make above that!

but nope.. Rush says just walk away and let that rock kill everyone.. because it'll be Obama's fault? He'll get the blame..

no, no he won't... and worse, you'll fuck everyone in the mix by being go goddamn retarded!

yeah, I said it...fucking retarded!

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them.  Balance is irrelevant to me.  It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)
