Alex Jones is the person that an estimated 3 million Americans tune into regularly (I think those numbers are a bit higher personally). Of those, I'm not sure how many of them listen to his words as gospel and how many tune in for entertainment.
He is certainly a sensationalist and a provocateur, not that there's anything wrong with that. Individuals who are, can make others think occasionally with their dramatically overflowing passions and concerns. Jones, however, isn't the crack pot scientist who's right about the alien invasion coming. He's not the little kid who no one believes about old lady Smith really being a monster. And he's not the herald that the *Illuminati* are trying to silence by making them seem unhinged...he's doing that all on his own.
Alex is the perfect example of the Conspiracy Loop and how it can expand exponentially to start including everything. I *believe* he was one of the individuals who appeared in a small documentary where actual scientists, from quite a few fields, sat down with 9/11 Truthers and took on each piece of evidence Truthers felt legitimized or proved their assertions. None were treated as whacky, nor were any approached in a placating, insulting fashion. It was people sitting around a table running down each claim, one by one, with no pre-agenda...and seeing where that claim wound up once it was tested and retested using scientific methodology. As I recall, nothing held up after running and rerunning claims. The end result? The Truthers could not and would not accept the findings they themselves participated in seeking. Even the more knowledgeable Truthers who had scientific backgrounds, or were actual scientists themselves (I think there were several) while admitting that the results were indeed accurate and true...still dismissed them as anything that put their claims in shaky territory. That's the problem with Conspiracy...if YOU KNOW it's true...you will (as did the people in the documentary) add another layer and question any result (even if you had knowledge and participated). It's never ending. It becomes...Prove the Negative.
"Can you say positively that the Government wasn't involved?"
"No."
"Can you say positively that the Government won't come for my guns?"
"No."
"Can you say positively that there's no NWO?"
"No."
"I rest my case."
