I'm beginning to think a majority of gop men in congress.. (read-old,southern,conservative) don't even believe there is such a thing as rape. Either they think "it's just boys having fun, that's all" or they think "Those fast girls are just asking for it and these good boys are getting entrapped by them".. and it stuns me. Not because they're old, white, southern, conservative.. but because all the southern, white, conservatives I ever knew and still know, hold raping/beating women 2nd only to murder when it comes to crimes you do not commit.. (to be honest, they'd find a reason a to murder someone before finding a reason to rape)
then again, I'm not talking about trailer trash and the well-to-do-as-they-want.. I'm talking about your normal every day country-boy/redneck... These boys are raised to respect women.. I'm not gonna say they're raised to be southern gentlemen because I don't know if anyone is anymore.. but they are raised by strong southern women and there's a bond with them and their sons that goes pretty deep. A bond that makes them treat women the way they want their moms or sisters treated..Not all of them of course, there are always the outliers.. but for the most part they're good people..
It really makes me wonder, when I see these conservatives intimating that it (rape) either doesn't exist or it's the girl fault.. just what kind of trash they come from.. were they raised in squalor by dads in beer stained wife-beaters who were drunk and beating their mothers all day? were they raised by governess',never seeing mother or father except once a week when they could get an appointment in between mother's tea-time with the Jr. league and Dad's brandy with the boardroom? because the country/conservative/gun-loving/redneck/cowboy boys I know and grew up with, who were raised right.. would kill a man for laying an inappropriate hand on a women, much less rape her..

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them. Balance is irrelevant to me. It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)
