Some people have a problem with showing ID to vote? I don't understand why. Here they have a list and you tell them your name and they mark that you voted, I assume to stop people from voting more than once. I have plenty of problems with the civil liberties situation but I don't feel there's anything wrong with being asked to show ID.

You don't understand. It's not about showing an ID to vote, that's already done. As you said, we need to provide proof of who we are. What's wanted now is a picture ID with an address within the jurisdiction. There's millions of poor and elderly out there who have never had a picture ID for various reasons, none of which are their fault.

Here in the State of Floriduh, the land of "Keep your gubmint away from me!" the requirements to renew, change, or otherwise get a new driver's license or state ID are bordering on the insane and extremely expensive. How can we expect our poor, elderly and disabled to comply?

Although some on here disagree with me, it's almost the same with college students. Kids live in a town for four, five, or more years to get an education and can't have a say in how that town's run? What about the folks who moved to a new town one, two or a few years ago? Can we tell them they can't vote because they haven't lived here long enough?

How about the military families? Are we going to tell them they can't vote either?

Here's the thing...these laws are solely intended to keep people from voting.

Extra bonus question: Who do you think these groups normally vote for?
