The house republicans don't give a damn about the debt ceiling - all they want to do is discredit the current administration.
Why is it that Bush got just about everything he ever wanted regardless of who was in control but it's not that way now with Obama. Not saying that I would necessarily have wanted him to but I thought he missed a window of opportunity in the first 6 months or so when he had the 'mandate'.
The GOP do not take kindly when one of their own is not supporting the message 100%. The latest example is when Newt criticized Ryan's plan to cut Medicare. The right were fighting each other to get on FOX to blast Newt for thinking on his own. Then Newt made a huge mistake, backtracked and tried to play stupid. Newt is many things but stupid is not one of them.
