NEWT EX-WIFE UNLOADS ON CAMERA; NETWORK DEBATES 'ETHICS' OF AIRING BEFORE SC PRIMARY

**Exclusive**
Wed Jan 18 2012 18:47:14 ET

Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband's career with a single interview.

Earlier this week, she sat before ABCNEWS cameras,
the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

She spoke to ABCNEWS reporter Brian Ross for two hours, and her explosive revelations are set to rock the trail.

But now a "civil war" has erupted inside of the network, an insider claims, on exactly when the confession will air!

MORE

ABCNEWS suits determined it would be "unethical" to run the Marianne Gingrich interview so close to the South Carolina Primary, a curious decision, one insider argued, since the network has aggressively been reporting on other candidates.

A decision was tentatively made to air the interview next Monday, after all votes have been counted.

Gingrich canceled a press conference on Wednesday to deal with the matter.

"He believes that what he says in public and how he lives don't have to be connected," Marianne Gingrich, Newt's wife of 18 years, explained to ESQUIRE last year.

Developing...

UPDATE: The AP reports ABC is now likely to air the segment Thursday on NIGHTLINE.

I of course don't want this aired because I want to see Newt rise in the polls not drop.. he would be soo easy to bet that I want him nominated, or for this whole primary to go on longer (hey, I agree with Sarah).. BUT Fuck this shit! air that shit and air it now, Fox would air before every debate if it was Obama(hell Fox would give the interview it's own show and just replay all election season) and this what Citz United was all about... That HRC movie that couldn't be aired because it violated the rules.. well Newt was all for that shit going down, so live by the sword die by it bitch!

but I would really like him to still be nominated... HA!

This tickles the hell out of me! Don't worry about him gaining in the polls and getting the nomination, Republicans don't care about family values when it concerns them. It's just when the mo's and Democrats fuck around!

I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office. And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that.

Really, Newt? The liberal news media? Were they doing the same to Spitzer, Weiner, Edwards? Or was that ok?

Really, Newt? The liberal news media? Were they doing the same to Spitzer, Weiner, Edwards? Or was that ok?

THIS is why Newt, is not (and never was) REAL Presidential material.  It's not even the tons of ironic arrogance that surrounded his indignation...it was his reaction.  He went for the throat, lost his cool.  He does this frequently.  If he's *offended* he lashes out, instead of letting his intellect and calm disarm a troublesome question.  It's part of his personality, and unlike others, he seems incapable (if really pressed) to put on his smooth pants.  A deficit like that, on a world stage venue where things can quickly and unexpectedly become very tense can be disastrous or even provoke a negative response, that otherwise could have been avoided.

Republicans seem very apt at rendering judgement, oft times harshly...with little to no room for circumstance or the moronic human condition/failing in tow...but point out the hypocrisy of a like situation or question a current one with them?...and you're summarily dismissed for DARING to sit in judgement of another human being, who has frailties and makes mistakes and this should not be an indictment of their character!

It always amuses me.  It shouldn't...but it does.

How hypocritical can one person be?

Newt Gingrich and the press: Secret pals
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0112/71741.html

His reply last night was the only reply he could have given, it was red meat to the crowd and it shut down any other questions on it. Too bad because a man who would cheat on his wife for 6 years and the come tell her after her MS dx that his mistress will get him elected president and oh by the way, do you mind if I keep her in tow, has no 'values' at all. It's not just a lack of 'family values' here that's the problem, it's the lack of fucking sense and humility.. This is not a person I want in congress much less in the white house.

but my g/pa loves him.. he's been brain-washed by my aunt and fox news.. he said today Newt is rabid bulldog and that's what we need to bring the country back.. saddest day of my life listening to him vomit up Hannity and my aunt like that.. :'(  he wants someone to what Newt did to John King, but to do it to Obama.. That's what this election is about, 'bringing hard' to Obama and nothing else matters.. hopefully I can get the Fox out of him before he's completely 'borg'..

Classic!  I had a Clinton flashback!

Oh. Clinton had two affairs while married to two separate women (both ill) then dumped the second one to marry a horse-faced golddigger?

Do tell!

I can't wait to hear Drudge calling Callista the First Golddigger!

If only Clinton, condemned Newt for cheating, all the while, Clinton cheating on his cancer riddled wife, then yeah they would be the same.

Newt is on record saying when he gets stressed he cheats. Well being president is pretty stressful. I heard if Newt wins he will name the dude that runs the Bunny Ranch, his stress reliever Czar.

Actually a better comparision for Newt is Mark Sanford. They both condemned Clinton for cheating all the while being cheaters themselves.

An even better comparision is John Edwards, like Newt he cheated on a wife whose body was being ravaged by cancer.

Nothing says Family Values like banging a mistress while the wife is in the hospital.

Wait. I had to check into this. Weren't charges dropped against both? Clinton had impeachment charges dismissed by the Senate, Gingrich had perjury charges dropped but was reprimanded for lying. So why are you lying and saying Clinton was a felon? (http://mediamatters.org/research/200411220006)

Quote
On November 21, William J. Bennett, conservative author and nationally syndicated radio host, falsely claimed six times that former President Bill Clinton committed "perjury" or a "felony" for lying under oath. Bennett appeared on FOX Broadcasting Company's FOX News Sunday opposite Robert B. Reich, former Clinton administration Labor secretary, to discuss Clinton's legacy three days after the November 18 opening of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

As Media Matters for America has noted, the Senate acquitted Clinton on both articles of impeachment, one of which was perjury. In order for a lie under oath to amount to perjury -- as Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI) explained on the floor of the Senate on February 12, 1999 -- it must be "material" to the underlying case. U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright ruled that Clinton's deposition in the Monica Lewinsky case was immaterial to the sexual harassment suit that Paula Jones brought against Clinton.

Meanwhile, looks like Newt has already committed another felony on the campaign trail!

Anyhow, back on track...yes, Newt violated the law with that statement:

Quote
TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 29 > § 599
§ 599. Promise of appointment by candidate

Whoever, being a candidate, directly or indirectly promises or pledges the appointment, or the use of his influence or support for the appointment of any person to any public or private position or employment, for the purpose of procuring support in his candidacy shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if the violation was willful, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

Can we just ship him off to Guantanamo now???

Ethics Panel Supports Reprimand of Gingrich

By John E. Yang and Helen Dewar
Washington Post Staff Writers
Saturday, January 18 1997; Page A01

The House ethics committee recommended last night that House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) face an unprecedented reprimand from his colleagues and pay $300,000 in additional sanctions after concluding that his use of tax-deductible money for political purposes and inaccurate information supplied to investigators represented "intentional or . . . reckless" disregard of House rules.

...

Cole said he had concluded that Gingrich had violated federal tax law and had lied to the ethics panel in an effort to force the committee to dismiss the complaint against him. He said the committee members were reluctant to go that far in their conclusions, but said they agreed Gingrich was either "reckless" or "intentional" in the way he conducted himself.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/govt/leadership/stories/011897.htm

That is a real issue.. not just a blow job.

It's hilarious how you act all pious with that "But he lied" when it comes to Clinton but ignore the lie with it's Newt and Scooter. Both of their lies (one to investigators asking if the VP leaked a CIA agents name, and one to a committee looking into his federal violations) are real issues...that you gloss over and pretend like they mean nothing.... unlike the 'did you cheat on your wife' lie.. That's the one you hone in on, that's the one you go all 'black and white' on..that's the one that matters..

You are even lying when you call me a liar.  Doesn't that get confusing?

I didn't say Clinton was a felon.  He did commit a felony though.  The fact that he wasn't impeached doesn't change that since he admitted to it as part of deal to avoid further criminal charges.

In fact, the Senate acquitted Clinton. U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright ruled that Clinton's deposition in the Monica Lewinsky case was immaterial to the sexual harassment suit that Paula Jones brought against Clinton. As a judge, Napolitano almost certainly knows that as a legal matter, Clinton is not guilty of a felony.
