I have spent less than 5 seconds total thinking about your posting style-- which I think is appropriate. But I don't skip them anymore than any others and certainly not because of spacing issues. |

and...is this cpk ?
It was a meta-comment on style by inserting hyperstylized poetry into an argument about over spaced text. It just seemed to fit. Anyway... I don't know a cpk. |

All I did was write a Haiku. I like Haiku's.
The argument over posting style doesn't seem relevant anymore than a non-sequitor haiku.

A slur is just an insult. It used to be commonly "slur on the family name" (i.e. those Johnson boys are nothing but trash). In that sense, this was a slur.
That said, he wasn't really indicating that she was, in point of fact, a slut who slept around or the like. Just that she followed the party line a little too easily.... It's a figure of speech.
I don't mind strong opinions, even opinions with hyperbole and overexpression, being aired. MSNBC apparently did.

Last time I checked, most states (that I've driven through at least) have the Gov's name on them. I assume those get reprinted every year. He's right, it's a customary part of the honor of holding the office.
It is a customary honor. In the same way that, customarily, we have been honored with fire and education services. Fuck him running and sideways. I know the $8,800 is a drop in the bucket but it just looks so bad... particurally when has sharpened his pencil so severly everywhere else. And he's spending money on inaguration parties and road signs for himself? No. Just fucking no. |

Why there aren't laws in place that forbid any member of a regulatory body from EVER directly participating or becoming hired by ventures that stood to gain from the regulatory decision...boggles my fucking mind.
Because it's fucking unbelievable that someone would so openly and blatantly do this. It's just stinks of bad character and the vacant, drifting ethical content of large swaths of American politics. Right wingers harp on morality till they are blue in the face (mostly from auto-erotic asphyxiation, me thinks) but what about some goddamn ethics? I don't care if you are banging three dudes and a chincillia in your off time. Can you watch this goddamn ship that is heading for the goddamn rock or at least not steer the goddamn thing directly AT the rock? |

I respectfully disagree. This was a remarkably well-planned and executed foray. Hell, they even planned for a replacement helicopter if something went wrong!
The intelligence was meticulously pieced together, examined, verified as much as possible, and examined some more before the authorization was given.
Planned for a backup chopper? Redundancy of escape is not really super-warrior-brain thinking, it's kinda basic. Still, I don't want to totally take away from it. Things like this are hard-- and Power Team USA has a history of spectacular public failures...so we got that going for us. The intelligence was indeed key.... it's just it's been so bad for so long and so wildly insensitive to what was actually happening in the region that this seems like an aberation in the face of a hundred WMD fallacies. Again, I was amazed. |

Let's be honest, this was almost a gigantic cluster fuck like Iran or Somalia. We even forgot to put gas in one of the choppers. (I hope I'm kidding about that but, seriously, didn't anybody give the thing a tune up before it went out on, like, their most important mission ever)?
We got lucky and Obama's call on this was only indicative of someone who had paid attention. Clinton bombed an asprin factory and GWB carpet bombed most of Afghanistan with the much vaunted "bunker busters" for months to no avail. I do give him respect for making this a targeted assault as opposed to the usual high level waxing we give problems like this. It's.... almost.... like... he... wants... to SOLVE... the probelm instead of fighting a fucking ground war against a decentralized enemy.... but, nah, we couldn't be learning from history could we?
I am not proud of this operation. I am amazed that our usually thuddingly bad intelligence and often incompetent special forces were able to pull this out.
Good job, America.

This is a moderately irrelavent revenge killing that will do nothing much to change the face of global terrorism. It is a political victory and statement more than anything else-- it's certainly not a point of national pride to me.
Al Queda isn't necessarily demoralized by this at all, just growingly pase'. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the real conspiracy theory was that Zwahiri (sp?) gave up Bin Laden to try and inspire some sort of martrydom in what's left of that shit hole of an organization.
Bin Laden hadn't lead the thing for years and was living like a goddamn animal in a windowless compound with 30 people.
I'm going to a BBQ this weekend and put my feet up and not think anymore about this than if they announced a sale on Mazda's....
