I think I struck a nerve with you, and you're trying to play off your irritation and dislike as "humor". I'd rather you stop being two-faced about it, to be honest, but your opinion ultimately means nothing, so react how you want.
So far in this thread, we've seen racism, and now some misogyny, just for laughs. Because if a woman is being vocal, she must be bleeding out her crotch, right?
If you keep running people off, Howey, you'll be left with you and Kelly sitting alone in a room agreeing wi..........well. That's already going on, isn't it?
And after seeing your reaction to this, frankly, I see why the Muche banned you.
I had hoped you'd be able to take some level of criticism from me on this, as bristly as it's being delivered, because I do feel with a touch of sadness that this board will fail unless you change something. You can't keep driving/banning people off it, and not make a few changes. I thought you were misunderstood until I actually started interacting with you--whoopsies!
You are poisoning the atmosphere of your own board. How ironic is that?
Boh put it nicely, and a hell of a lot better than I did--but I see he understands where I'm coming from. "As the figurehead, one must understand the power of their posts." This is YOUR community, so do what you want with it, obviously. And you set the tone for the whole conversation. If you are happy with how this board is going then...well...rock on, rocker. But you don't stand on some golden pedestal where I can't call you out for how your "throw away jokes" aren't really jokes at all, but thinly-disgusted honest thoughts of judgement and hate.

I wonder if there's some board that I'm unable to see, where Howey talks shit about me behind my back because I disagreed with him...
edit: I don't want to be THAT asshole on every board that always comes running with the PC Police to jump on someone's shit for an off-color comment. But you can't talk out of one side about "promoting peaceful co-existance" and then make racial slurs with the other.

Intelligent, civil discussion can be fun! Promoting harmony through peaceful co-existence I hear he's had the family tree traced all the way back to Uncle Tom. WTF for real. So are you saying that comment was "Darth" in its meaning? Because to me, it read like a bitchy, nasty, snipping comment from a liberal who dislikes the man because of his political ideals, and attacked him for something completely unrelated to his political position, just to be catty and "witty". That's not intelligent or civil. It's also not harmonious, or peaceful. --Oh wait, I'm sure it was just a joke, right? Howey is not Darth, in really any respect. I'm not comparing the two, and I am not coming to this board expecting that--especially not from some moderator who wants respectful, intelligent conversation in one hand, and racial or political slurs on the other. Darth is what he is in his posts, and always has. Through the years, most people have seen a different side of him in private interactions, but his board persona is pretty much steady. Sometimes crude humor is humor--and other times its close enough to hate to be uncomfortable. Guess which category "I hear he's traced his family all the way back to Uncle Tom" falls into. Howey is physically unable to contain his obvious disgust & bias towards conservatives in his postings (I'd love to see the edit logs for this board, because I know I've seen some real doozy comments appear, then disappear) -- adding a crude racial joke into the mix about one of them is probably not a good idea. If someone had said that about Obama, guess what the reaction would be? Exactly the same. If it's inappropriate to say about our black president, it doesn't make it right when it's directed towards someone on the other party. Oh, but "conservatives are AFRAID of 'Our Town'", so when it's pointed at a neo-con, it's cool. You know what would have thrown me for a loop? If Darth had hauled off and created a board espoused to be full of respectful, intelligent discussion, and then proceeded to do exactly the opposite. Kelly, you're not two-faced--you and I have had private conversations regarding some of the stuff that has happened here, and I 100% get your perspective on it. And I am pretty sure you know mine too. And maybe my personal reaction to Howey and his previous behaviors have tainted my perspective of what he's posting--but there IS a difference between a tongue-in-cheek or crude joke, and a comment that really does seem hatefully inappropriate. I don't think anyone should have to second-guess what they're posting, but they should also be able to understand when someone may go "THE FUCK?" at something they've said. I've censored myself multiple times, for a couple of different reasons. Here's my view: If you're going to mod/op a board that you want to run with a sense of respect, intelligence, and dignity---then don't post shit like this.

I have to be honest, and I know I'm kicking the beehive with this comment, but SHIT. When I've already gone through all my normal internet stops for the day, done some laundry and the dishes, I think: "I guess I might pop in & see whats going on with that sideshoot board." It's kind of reluctant though. So I come over here. And I read a thread. MAYBE two. I might make a comment. Maybe. But before too long, I read something like this: I hear he's had the family tree traced all the way back to Uncle Tom. And then what is my reaction? Well, I write out a reply--and then I delete it, because I get halfway through and think "oh, fuck THIS shit." So, I click this instead:

I can't picture most Catholics I know voting for her anyways. While that article mentioned they lean Republican, most American Catholics only do so due to abortion & potentially gay marriage but even that issue is changing in the church.
This woman got brought up on Saturday on a Eucharistic retreat I attended, with about 70 other Catholics between 21 and 40. Nearly all of them disliked her.
Who gave Martin Luther the right to rewrite the bible anyways? Buh.

He should resign, not for the crotch pics but lying the whole freaking time.
He should do something, because he blabbered for half an hour today about how he's taking responsibility for it. His apology pissed me off.

I think the writing style is unnecessary. I stand by what I said on there--Very frequently I skip his posts, because it's just too difficult to string the thoughts together when they're visually separated like that. I have often really liked what I read, and I believe me and him share an affinity for God's favorite plant which means I already like him, but when I am already an "ADD web browser" (10 tabs going, constantly switching back and forth), his posts are sometimes just too hard to follow.

Sorry, my church doesn't have anything in the rule book about sending flowers to you instead of asking where Mike is. I don't think "wikkin" does either.
I'll have them get right on that.
