I suspect Obama's increase was due more to the added income from his book. As opposed to a MANDATE (see what I did there?) from a church.
I did see what you did there, I just didn't think it was that clever.
Most Christian denominations also have a
mandate to tithe. So I don't see what your point is supposed to be.
Anyway the article gives percentages of income, not dollar amounts, so Obama could just as easily give 14% 20 years ago, regardless of his income.
But I think usually with politicians they only contribute to charity or what have you when they know the amount is going to be disclosed. Then they go from selfish cheapskates to generous benefactors, like Kerry and Biden.
Or Obama.
