It's hard to believe now, but there were some people who voted for Obama because of his positions!

Luckily they're not many of them...

Repulsive progressive hypocrisy

During the Bush years, Guantanamo was the core symbol of right-wing radicalism and what was back then referred to as the “assault on American values and the shredding of our Constitution”: so much so then when Barack Obama ran for President, he featured these issues not as a secondary but as a central plank in his campaign. But now that there is a Democrat in office presiding over Guantanamo and these other polices — rather than a big, bad, scary Republican — all of that has changed, as a new Washington Post/ABC News poll today demonstrates:

...The survey shows that 70 percent of respondents approve of Obama’s decision to keep open the prison at Guantanamo Bay. . . . The poll shows that 53 percent of self-identified liberal Democrats — and 67 percent of moderate or conservative Democrats — support keeping Guantanamo Bay open, even though it emerged as a symbol of the post-Sept. 11 national security policies of George W. Bush, which many liberals bitterly opposed.

As Bush’s own CIA and NSA chief Michael Hayden said this week about the Awlaki assassination: “We needed a court order to eavesdrop on him but we didn’t need a court order to kill him. Isn’t that something?” That is indeed “something,” as is the fact that Bush’s mere due-process-free eavesdropping on and detention of American citizens caused such liberal outrage, while Obama’s due-process-free execution of them has not.

Yes, we did. Unfortunately, at the time, we were unaware of the massive backlash of bigoted Republicans who would do anything, everything, to block the goals of the BLACK MAN.

their abuse of power forced him to do what he did.

This is like the surveys that came out after Obamacare. We don't approve of keeping Guamtanamo open, but what choice is there when there is no other choice?

their abuse of power forced him to do what he did.

The level of sour grapes and pussyfied bitching about the accomplishments of Obama against the war on terror is...I guess, amusing.

Next thing you know you and your comrades will be trying to say Obama didn't want to kill bin Laden...

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I'd like to add that as a Greenwald admirer for several years, I'm amused by lilMike's  reverence towards a true liberal, whether I agree with him or not (this particular article).

wow, I didn't know we had such a bitter whiner as the cia/nsa chief..

as for Awlaki, I don't know who he was listening to but I've heard plenty of bitching by liberals on that... but to be fair, there are many who felt the way I did..

it's sad to see a NSA/CIA chief be so polarizing..

and here I thought Obama was weak on national security.. I mean John Thune told CPAC

Quote
On foreign policy, Thune claims that Obama has been ignorant of the threats. The only thing more alarming than these threats is the President’s weak response. We can’t win the peace with apologies and reset buttons and deep cuts to our national defense. And we can’t win the peace if we don’t tell it like it is: an act of terrorism is, just that, terrorism. Calling it a ‘man-caused disaster doesn’t change the gravity of the threat,” the Senator is expected to say.
http://www.frumforum.com/thune-obama-weak-on-terror

but now he's.........'secretly targeting American citizens for execution without due process, and slaughtering children, rescuers and funeral attendees with drones'

you guys can't seem to  make up your mind..I mean which is it? he's either 'ignorant' and 'weak' when it comes to terrorism, or you guys are whining because he's killing too many terrorists..

to me it  seems like its just that anything Obama does, even when it comes to killing terrorists... you're going to be against..

I really need to start collecting these!

I wouldn’t exactly say I have reverence for the guy.  I disagree with much that he believes, but I have to admire his Ron Paul like sticking to his principles, when so many other liberals turned out not to have any.  By keeping the same positions that he had before January 2009, that makes him a principled guy.

Lord willing, you’ll be sticking by your principles again next January.

Regardless of who wins, you're right about that.

huh, and here I almost believed you that you didn't vote (R) just to vote (R)..

I kinda knew it when you voted for Scott.. The other candidates weren't that bad, but Scott is an out and out crook.. he literally stole from the gov't and got busted doing it.. and yet, you voted (R) anyway..

but now, huh,... you really would elect a Santorum or Gingrich...

why?  what has Obama done that's soooooooooooooooo horrible for you? He's been pretty damn awesome on nat'l security... just ask OBL, Awalki, those Somali pirates, Gaddafi, and those hostage takers..

TARP was GWB... sure he bailed out GM, but it's not like we haven't bailed out the auto industry before.. and had he not, at a time when we were losing 750,000 jobs a month.. it would have sucked..

DOMA has been repealed.., jobs are coming back, the economy is growing..he kept gitmo, kept wiretapping, stopped torture, increased pay and bennies to military families..

what has he done that has jaded you so? unless you truly buy into Fox and Coulter...?

I've told you time and time again. It's not what he's done. It's what he is.

It's really quite simple...what better way to hide racism than to criticize every move the man makes? With lilMike's comment:

Anyone other than Obama.

there's no doubt as to the why...
