This is good... The more Machiavellian observer might even suspect this is actually an improved bait and switch by Obama to more firmly identify the religious right with opposition to contraception, its weakest issue by far, and to shore up support among independent women and his more liberal base. I’ve found by observing this president closely for years that what often seem like short-term tactical blunders turn out in the long run to be strategically shrewd. And if this was a trap, the religious right walked right into it. If it is, indeed, a trap (cue Nutty picture), it's a masterpiece. We saw the outcry after the clusterfuck that was Komen Foundation vs. Planned Parenthood, which resulted in a resounding "FUCK YOU!" from the women of America, regardless of religious preference. This "War on Contraception" will bode even greater disdain for the religious right and their agenda. Amen!

This party she whores herself out to would take her birth control,her right to serve in the military and her right to chose if they had their way.. the GOP is nothing but a bunch of crotchety old fucks who want nothing more than to blow their viagra fueled load into the 'little women' and have the piece of snatch run of to the kitchen to whip them up some dinner... These same fucking mopes would be on the other end of this if it was a Muslim/sharia law 'freedom of religion' issue.. you can bet every single one of them from top to bottom would be screaming about denying those 'freedoms'... I wish a Muslim issue would come up now, just to prove (again) their fucking intolerance of anything that isn't white..and male. |

While we're at it, why not ban condoms too? Let all those poor mexicans and blacks breed away. Let's procreate millions more chillens to overrun the ever-decreasing handouts they don't deserve. And when the government coffers run dry, where will they turn? Why Catholic Charities, of course!
These same fucking mopes would be on the other end of this if it was a Muslim/sharia law 'freedom of religion' issue.. you can bet every single one of them from top to bottom would be screaming about denying those 'freedoms'... They're treading into dangerous territory, that will do nothing but decrease their base. They're appealing to a fringe that in no way will offset the potential loss of most women who will not simply follow party ideology, jeopardizing their own best interests.
This is a medical issue, as well as a specific group of people being targeted based on no other reason than gender bias as it pertains to a belief.

No, not at all. Just Joe is in a distinct and wrongo minority. Seems like the GOP has lost the female vote for good if they keep up the fight. Including, duh, Catholic females. Schisms are emerging within the Republican Party after President Obama’s announcement last Friday that he would tweak his contraception mandate to ensure that religious nonprofits aren’t forced to pay for an employee’s birth control coverage. And as GOP leaders push to repeal the requirement entirely, the White House is welcoming that battle.
The shift is looking like an act of political jujitsu as Obama has not only unified his base but splintered the GOP coalition, which initially appeared united against the President’s rule. Obama won over the Democrats and moderate Catholics who criticized him, while maintaining the support of those who backed the original rule. As an added bonus, he has turned some Republicans who initially opposed his policy against their own leaders.
Splitting from their party leaders are Maine Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both of whom criticized the earlier regulation but praised the shift in carefully-worded statements. Neither would say whether they supported an amendment by their Senate colleague Roy Blunt (MO), which would fully reverse the requirement. |

I still think this is a game of chicken the GOP won't win...but the more I look at this, especially concerning states like Missouri and a few others...I think it is indeed a game, of positioning...tactically...on the part GOP for the senate in upcoming elections.
What remains to be seen is whether the "all in" approach will pay off in those regards...or if it will bite them in the ass unexpectedly hard, for the gamble.
