What I find most humorous is this "pioneer" spirit that keeps being integrated into the core of the messaging. "I made my own way. I NEVER took a hand out. Poverty and going hungry are good motivators, blah, blah, blah." They're such extremist views that not only ignore modern society...but if they got their way, most of the them touting this crap, would fold into a fetal position wondering what the F happened.
You know who made their own way? The actual pioneers. They did so out of absolute necessity because that's the life they chose. But guess what? Unless they forged their own steel for tools, made their own covered wagons, weaved every thread for the clothes they wore before they left, grew all their own veggies and raised all their own cows for meat for food stored for the trip, engineered their own guns, wrote their own bible and other literature with paper and ink they made themselves, searched through the woods to find the roots and herbs for their medications and ointments...my god...this list could go on forever.
Oh, but I forgot something very important. Unless you just appeared out of no where as a newly born baby and somehow, someway had this incredible ability to self sustain without food or water or medical care, and once of an age where you could use tools you just magically possessed the knowledge to cut, forge, make all of the implements for a home, clothes and thousands of other things.......you didn't make it on your own! My good God! These people must live in the most fantastical, perpetual dream land!
