On his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh suggested that the government manipulated hurricane forecasts in order to force Republicans to cancel a day of their national convention, saying the model “allows them to do it.”

“The hurricane center is the regime; the hurricane center is the Commerce Department. It’s the government. It’s Obama,” said Limbaugh.

In reality, the National Hurricane Center forecast is, roughly, what you get if “you average together the track forecasts from” several models, most of which are done by other organizations, in some cases other countries. Obama would have more luck using his apparently omniscient powers to alter the course of the hurricane itself than somehow trying to rejigger the storm tracks from all these different models, which are publicly available and updated continuously.

Limbaugh communicated his absurd theory on this imaginary scheme while simultaneously claiming “I’m not alleging conspiracy.”

His latest conspiracy theory matches the absurdity of his claim from last July, when he said the heat index was “manufactured by the government” in order to convince the American people that it’s hotter outside.

remember when all this started and you and I talked about how it seemed like their end game was an assassination attempt or something? I mean, the rhetoric was so alarmingly apocalyptic and all what else could stop it?

it's like they've lost their minds since nothing has happened except his approval rating have stayed constantly good and they don't know what else to do.. so now, he's God for making the rain and God for making the drought.. They've done more than just label him 'Messiah'.. they've come to actually believe he is it..

Well, if he was the Messiah (which is absolutely ludicrous)...THIS is exactly how they'd treat him.  Help the children, poor, elderly, disabled...are you kidding me? Fuck those lazy assholes...not ONE OF'EM has a legitimate circumstance...fuck'em all.

I argued with a lady the other day (she was Pro-Life)...she was very adamant that "life" was the "choice."  I asked her how she reconciled bringing a baby into the world, but being part of a party (she's Repub) that was all for very much limiting or removing programs that benefited/helped those babies who perhaps were born with medical issues or into dire circumstances...?  She said THAT should be the "communities" job, not the Governments.  I asked, well what if the community doesn't want to help?...because the sentiment among many seems to be it's their job to bring the baby into the world and then, all bets are off...it's on it's own.  Her reply went right back into scripted robot mode, "Life is the choice."  She wouldn't even address something that posed a conundrum, that would force her to think, re-evaluate, ask her to look at a paradox.

If Rush can find a few people who are crazy enough to listen to him and spread the word, his job is done.

We, unfortunately, met two of his fans, fellow foster parents we were forced to meet as two kids we had went to them after they got their other two siblings.  This man and I got into it on the third meeting because, while I don't care what your opinion of Obama is, don't start your crap in front of kids. He had a, "I've got an opinion and you're going to listen to it" attitude every meeting.

He hated Obama, is anti immigrants (though he is third generation German), and believes in isolationism. He's also extremely racist.

If Obama wins it will be a small bit of karma for him.
