Lunacy would be an apt description.
This analogy of thought works for me. Imagine two people applying for the same position. Both are reasonably qualified. Both make an alright impression. Both happen to know people within the same company...different people...but they each know several individuals.
Potential hire "A" hopes he sold himself well. He's asked several of his friends on the inside to perhaps throw him a good word...nothing over the top...maybe they could exaggerate a bit, maybe even taking a swipe at Potential Hire "B", nothing insane or false...but, ya know, any push in his favor would be appreciated.
Potential hire "B" hopes he sold himself well. He's asked several of his friends on the inside to perhaps throw him a good word...oh and by the way...if his friends want to go off the ethical reservation and suggest crazy ass shit about Potential hire "A"...he won't condone it, but neither will he stop it...like...he likes to let his dog lick his cock, often, and perhaps has a thing for little boys and girls and enjoys pissing on a crucifix every night and loves sticking hard candy up his ass and then push it back out, wrap it, and offer it to the elderly.
Obama is A to me and Romney is B. Politics is dirty, always has been. Maybe I'd make a shitty politician, but I wouldn't allow crazy ass shit on my behalf to be said about my opponent that wasn't true...especially not crazy ass shit...that was really crazy ass shit that caused outrage, fear and hatred.
I could never picture wanting something so bad that I'd condone (by my silence) bullshit like that...nor being a part of dividing a community, state, or nation by that silence.
