You're the first liberal I've ran across that thought it was better for society to have insurance come from the employer. Almost all seem to want Medicare for all or some sort of Government paid for healthcare.

BS and you know it. If employers provided health care, affordable comprehensive health care, for ALL employees not only would rates go down but there would be no need for nationalized health care.

sorry, I agree with his 'liberals'..

I think it should be taken out the 'employment' arena.. it should  have never been attached.  too many self-employed or part-time and low-wage and right now, unemployed for it to work as being 'employer' based..

I like the exchanges..no matter where you work, or if you work.. you can still get quality, affordable care.. I guess like medicare for all.

that doesn't mean employers can't offer extra benefit packages which would then, as you said, bring costs way down.. once you have your basic coverage on your own, employers could offer 'cosmetic' packages..braces(teeth),dental implants, boobs, lipo, hair removal etc..  or upgraded 'VIP' plans with private rooms, private for profit hospitals..  that kind of  additional stuff you can chose.. or not chose, but still have your regular coverage without it being job related..

I also don't agree with his use of "Government paid for healthcare."  because it implies that everyone is not paying into a 'single-payer' (and that payer is paying the doctors and hospitals)..  and I can't really assume that's what he meant or that's what others would understand as his meaning because too many people like him really think it'll be totally free with no one but Mitt Romney paying for everyone to have healthcare..

My point is simply that if employers offered comprehensive health care for their employees, all of their employees, we wouldn't need Obamacare as it is now. I'm all for single payor ala' Medicare or the VA, but it's obvious business took the wrong track on this. Employers could be enoying higher retention, higher employee health, increased productivity, and so on...

That said, under both circumstances can you imagine how far rates will go down with that kind of participation?

I agree that if it's going to remain employer based.. they all need to offer a standard, good, affordable coverage.. it would have to be 'standardized' or 'uniform' or something to give people the ability to change jobs and keep the same coverage..but that doesn't help the unemployed.

That said, under both circumstances can you imagine how far rates will go down with that kind of participation?

we could really truly have the best care in the world..

I don't know why the concept is so... 'socialist'..

take the USPS.. Their employees get Federal BC/BS... there's not much out there that's better. it's not 'state' BCBS, it's Federal... and they are able to give it to the 'sick' 'healthy' 'old' and 'young' for a pretty damn cheap price, and their spouses and family.. because the 'pool' of people in the plan is huge..  same thing with WDW. between every WDW employee at the parks,cruise-line,retail shops... here and in CA.. they could offer a mac-daddy plan with all those people paying into it...it's not a hard concept to follow.

that's why single payer is such a great idea.. we're all paying for it anyway..with extreme rates. why not 're-negotiate' what we're doing and pay a better rate and insure more people..

hell, the right is all about 'union busting'.. but when you want to bust the 'insurance union' then you're forcing socialism upon good Americans..

fucking lunatics..

Insurance companies, by and large (not all, but most), have been based on such an extortion/ghoulish premise for so long.  No matter how healthy you are, how well you've taken care of yourself...you will at some point get ill.  There's no getting away from that.  While I would never begrudge someone making a good living from the study of medicine and helping others as a result...it's sickening to see insurance companies profiting from illness on the levels they do.  I mean they don't just profit, they treat human illness as a negative to that profit. "Oh man, Billy's REALLY cutting into my potential bonus package...cut that little shit off."  That's just so fuck'in macabre.
