TALLAHASSEE --

A Florida lawmaker says abortions should be banned unless the mother is at risk.

This week marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling upholding abortion rights, but neither the anniversary, nor the ruling prevented state Rep. Charles Van Zant, R-Keystone Heights, from filing a bill to make abortions in Florida much more difficult to get.

Van Zant wants to ban abortions altogether, unless the life of the mother is at risk.

Even then, the bill, H.B. 395, also calls for a ban of induced abortions, which rely on medication. That means doctors would have to use much more invasive and painful surgical methods.

didja get that last part..

not only do they want to ban all abortions unless the mother is at risk... they want to make the hussy have a painful, surgical abortion instead of a chemical one that cause less pain and risk..

wtf?

fuck the bitch.. even if she's going to die, she should have thought about that before she opened her legs and got raped.. we'll show her by making it hurt..

wtf?

here's an option.. STAY OUT OF MY VAGINA!!! you fuckin animal..

But you have to love the bill sponsor's reasoning..

"If we'll lead with some courage and moral conviction, then more healthy babies can be born in Florida and they'll grow up and they'll have jobs in our state and we'll leave a better legacy for Florida," said Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Republican of Ft. Walton Beach.

uh huh... but until the 'grow up'.. no healthcare for you, you taker! no food stamps if your mother is poor, the bitch should have thought about that before having you, no free lunch in school because we're not socialist and your daddy should get off his ass and work.. no education for you anyway because your parents should stay at home and school you properly..

just how in the hell are the 'non-people' (per the catholic church- oh yes, I'm going to love using and abusing that descriptor) supposed to grow up healthy and educated to have a job in this state when, after, it falls out of a vagina it becomes 'hands off, fend for your damn self taker"?

then there's this whacko-nut who wants to force rape-victims to have the child because it's evidence of the rape to be used in court.. and if the victim has the abortion, she should go to jail for tampering with evidence..

New Mexico Bill Would Criminalize Abortions After Rape As 'Tampering With Evidence'

A Republican lawmaker in New Mexico introduced a bill on Wednesday that would legally require victims of rape to carry their pregnancies to term in order to use the fetus as evidence for a sexual assault trial.

House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), would charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony for "tampering with evidence."

“Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime," the bill says.

Third-degree felonies in New Mexico carry a sentence of up to three years in prison.

yeah, that's right.. make the rape victim the felon..

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them.  Balance is irrelevant to me.  It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)

Of all the proposed abortion legislation that's been drafted in state houses since the GOTP snagged seats in 2010 (I thought I read over 1100 abortion specific to date)...this one by Rep. Brown, takes the zealot cake.  Doesn't matter if rape was the method of conception.  Doesn't matter that your Father/Uncle/Brother dumped seed into that trusting/confused vagina...have that evidence or go to jail!

Those damn God Warriors (TM Nutty on this board) made this statement recently, while I was gimping around the net.

"We're not coming after your reproductive rights, it's your fetus killing we'd like stopped."

The mountain of dumb, in that single statement, is their reality.  That's the way they perceive this issue.  In absolutes.  This was my response that got me my 3rd or 4th not so subtle threat of violence (yea me! I'm popular!)

"This is perfect. The irony of the statement, that misses the deeper, yet simple context, is amazing because you can't separate the two.

Reproductive rights and abortion can't be summarily divided...they are inextricably linked through biology. I know in the micro universe of black and white, with no gray, it doesn't intrude on your logic at all. It would only make sense if the woman had the immediate biological option, upon conception, to somehow keep the zygote viable outside of her body in some other self sustaining biological containment, as part of the natural process. And EVEN THEN, there are a hundred other options that must be considered. You can NEVER take life and death decisions out of the hands of the woman who may die, pre, during, or post and may suffer life long medical or mental problems as a result of pregnancy and childbirth...ever. Women are not faceless incubators...they are sentient beings whose life is NO LESS important and whose life is more complicated, than a bunch of old white, self righteous, religiously steeped bureaucrats would depreciate down to bronze age status because of their beliefs
