You think Drudge is apoplectic over Obama playing golf with Tiger Woods? Wait until he and his right wing buddies hear about this! When President Barack Obama visits Israel next month, he'll be awarded the Presidential Medal of Distinction, Israeli President Shimon Peres' office announced Monday.
Obama, the first sitting U.S. president to receive the recognition, will be awarded the medal for making "a unique and significant contribution to strengthening the State of Israel and the security of its citizens," according to a release announcing the news. That sound you hear is Dubya sobbing...

They'll probably spin this to Israel trying anything to stay on President Obama's good side, so they don't get jilted. Which would be neat and all in a soap opera'ish way...if not for the fact that the President has NEVER vetoed or stood in the way of any monies or support that we've allocated to them.

Next thing you know, Fox will be up in arms defending Palestine. The more conservative Obama's policies are revealed to be, the more liberal Fox will need to be.

The more conservative Obama's policies are revealed to be, the more liberal Fox will need to be. now that would be hilarious... they're already to the left of him when it comes to killing terrorists.. I should have known how 'fox' was going to react to Obama early on when he started all the drone-killing.. a conserv who was here was aghast that Obama was killing so many terrorist. he said he should be capturing them and imprisoning them instead.. I was like "wtf are you talking about, you were all 'kill them all' when Cheney was doin it but now you're all 'dear me miss scarlet, I think I'm going to faint'"he couldn't answer of course, but it should have been an indication of where things were going...

He got his award today, and to make matters worse, lots of love from the people of Israel and HaaretzFor Barack Obama to come to Jerusalem, and speak to Israeli students and talk persuasively of the possibility of a secure and peaceful future, for him to do that and garner a roaring ovation of approval, he would have to have given one hell of a speech.
He did.
This was the speech that these young Israelis not only needed but wanted to hear. A speech that radically redefined centrism in Israel, bringing it down to extraordinary common denominators in directions Israelis have learned to think of as diametrically opposed.
He spoke of security and peace as inextricably and necessarily linked, not a narrow choice between options, but a conscious choice for both.
They roared.
This was not the student crowd that Obama is used to. These students are Israelis. This is a crowd that is world-weary, hair-trigger volatile. They have come by it honestly. In comparison to their American counterparts, they are, by and large, older by several years – some would say, several lifetimes. They enter college after years in the military, often followed by the escape-valve rehab of a marathon trek to remote continents.
They know a snow job when they hear it. And the rare times when someone makes a sincere and enormous effort to understand them, to see things from their point of view, and to bring them a message that no leader in Israel has managed to bring them, they know that too. And if they respond with a huge reservoir of unaddressed, pent up emotional energy, as they did Thursday evening, even that fusty hall in Jerusalem - that house that boredom built, that home to bureaucratic Jewish organizational conferences dull as death - can erupt with the electricity and positive might that are the hallmarks if something we thought we'd all lost long ago: hope.

The Israeli youth of today, don't want to carry on the fuck'in religious blood feud of their ancestors anymore (both past and recent). I think I can say, with almost a 100 percent certainty...that neither do the Palestinian youth.
And both deserve better than being the next generation of indoctrinated pawns, carrying out the will of crazy muther fuckers who believed they're insanity had divine purpose.
