It's a shame when John McCain has to explain on the house floor how democracy works to a fellow Republican.
"
We fought as hard as we could in a fair and honest manner and we lost," McCain said. "One of the reasons was because we were in the minority, and in democracies, almost always the majority governs and passes legislation."
McCain said he "was extremely proud" of the anti-Obamacare effort by lawmakers and said they shouldn't "give up our efforts to repair Obamacare," but said it wasn't worth shutting down the government."
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/25/john-mccain-ted-cruz_n_3989887.html#commentsNote that McCain states, "repair Obamacare", meaning he knows that in a democracy, it passed by a majority and while he doesn't agree with portions or most of the ACA, he will work towards offering suggestions for changes he feels will make it better or less onerous or whatever his misgivings are...and not throwing a tantrum about shutting down the Government, like Cruz (and others of like mind) who don't like how democracy worked *this time.*
So all Cruz (and those against it) have left are pounding the crap out of parts that aren't necessarily to everyone's liking AND flooding any media outlet that will give them 5 seconds to tout outright lies, misinformation and misconceptions.
A new polls out, showing more than a majority of Americans are unsure or possibly against the ACA now...and I'm SURE that poll isn't ANY reflection of the lies, misinformation and misconceptions that have been making the rock star rounds. /*end sarcasm* What'd I'd REALLY be interested in knowing is, of all those polled for this...how many had an actual understanding of what's in the ACA and how it will or will not affect them.
Using the same tactic, the opposition during President Obama's first run, made sure that Single Payer was akin to socialist hell, where the free market would wither and die...and where it wouldn't be allowed even for an ounce of consideration. Now? "Why the fuck wasn't Single Payer an option!?!?"
Oi.
