Just wait until tomorrow when all the interviews start coming out from regular people tomorrow afternoon who've signed up for Obamacare in their states, millions of them who've purchased health care coverage for the first time in their lives or those who've been able to change policies and save thousands of dollars. Wait for the people with preexisting conditions telling their stories. Look for the faces of smiling families.

It'll be enough to make Boehner sick. Thank God he's got healthcare!

I admit.. I'm a little anxious myself to see what I can get and for how much..

being in FL will suck for a whole lot of us tho....since Scott refuses to open medicaid rolls and an 'exchange'.. but hopefully we can get rid of him in '14 and get someone in office we actually gives a shit about people and their health.

This isn't looking good for the republicans.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-10-01/americans-by-72-oppose-shutdown-tied-to-health-care-cuts.html
Quote
In a rejection of congressional Republicans’ strategy, Americans overwhelmingly oppose undermining President Barack Obama’s health-care law by shutting down the federal government or resisting an increase in the nation’s debt limit, according to a poll released today.

By 72 percent to 22 percent, Americans oppose Congress “shutting down major activities of the federal government” as a way to stop the Affordable Care Act from going into effect, the national survey from Quinnipiac University found.

By 64 percent to 27 percent, voters don’t want Congress to block an increase in the nation’s $16.7 trillion federal borrowing limit as a way to thwart implementation of the health-care law, which Obama signed into law in 2010 with a goal of insuring millions of Americans, known as “Obamacare.”

A majority of the public, 58 percent, is opposed to cutting off funding for the insurance program that begins enrollment today. Thirty-four percent support defunding it.

Stewart nailed it again last night..

Quote
    “

Apparently, they are allowed to do that — (members of Congress) are allowed to make laws, and the President is allowed to sign laws. And what do we do if those laws are unconstitutional? Well apparently nine precogs in magic robes got together, looked at the Affordable Care Act, and decided that it was not unconstitutional.

So everything appears to have been done (waves a copy of the Constitution) literally by the book. This bill is now a law, vetted by the very system these Republicans claim to love — but to hear Republicans tell it, the whole thing could just be avoided if President Obama would just meet him halfway!

…The bill is a fucking law! …Are you familiar with how the word works? Did you see the Giants game on Sunday? Okay: they lost 31 to 7. And you know what the Giants didn’t say after that game? ‘If you don’t give us 25 more points by midnight on Monday, we are gonna shut down the NFL!!!’
    ”

    – JON STEWART, The Daily Show

that's it exactly... when you lose a fucking election, twice, you don't turn around and shut down the f'ing gov't to demand a law that's already been passed, vetted, rule constitutional,re-affirmed  in 2 elections  be 'repealed' just because one minority faction of one party, in one house of Congress doesn't like the fucking law.. The world doesn't work like that, you lose a goddamn 'game' fair and square and you don't come back later with a grenade and threaten to blow up the stadium if you're not 'given' the winning ball...

as for negotiating..

wtf?

there is no negotiations... it's been negotiated.. the concept of 'win/lose' has been negotiated already, you lost!

I am utterly disgusted with the media at this point.. this is not a "political chicken match" ... this is not  "let's see if the Dems concede"...This false equivalency-kick they're on is bullshit.. this is one fanatical group extorting an entire country for their own sick pleasure... and should be reported as such..

speaking of fanatical groups... Stewart nailed it with this also last night..

There's a lot wrong up there in D.C., but this takes the fucking cake.  These Tea Partiers have been convinced the ACA is exactly the same as fuckin Slavery (I'm seeing the false equivalency being used all across the net). The ACA is evil incarnate....and MUST be stopped, no matter what. And when they say...no matter what...they friggin mean it.  Oh and while they're at it, they will slip in completely unrelated items they want, while they still expect the non implementation and defunding.

You can't appeal to any sense of decorum or procedure, because they find both untenable anyway, based on how they think things should work. They're untouchable...and here's why.  They're base will keep them elected, barring very close districts, they will suffer no consequences in that arena...and...they think Government should be smaller...much, much smaller anyway, so they just got an early Christmas Present. REAL consequences of a Government shutdown aren't suffered by them, and even if they did...it would be that goooooddd suffering...for their and our own good...so expect this to become the norm. Their like medieval flagellating monks.  They just won't tell you how wonderful it is to flay your fuckin skin to win Gawd's favor...hell...they join in! They swam in the deep end, flagellation and all...and ya know what...they didn't drown. It's party time.

I just checked Drudge. Not much about the shutdown, other than it's Obama's fault, but a lot on Obamacare. Seems like I predicted, demand is overwhelming and slowing down servers. And that's a bad thing? Yeah, it's all Obama's fault too.

A brand new system crashed? Oh, the horror!

it's insane..

the fbi
the cia
federal firefighters
federal prison guards

all have been asked to work without pay...

why? well we can't just have them walk off the job... and theirs isn't an 'office' that you can just close down.. so instead, they have to work for free..

but guess who still gets $$$... fucking congress..

it's insane

Isn't it amazing? To Darth and EKG...I fault, in major proportion, the press.  They've abdicated their duty in this insane push to be neutral, unbiased. It's letting fucking idiots, who think a committee should take just as seriously their idea of bringing coleslaw as a better idea than potato salad to the annual city summer picnic, is JUST as important as talking about some pipe mains that burst.

"Well this is just as important!"

"No, no it's not really...and while we appreciate that you want the annual city summer picnic to be good, please don't...wait...ya know what...shut the fuck up...Seriously.  You're talking about god damn coleslaw when we're trying to get a handle on raw fuckin sewage spilling everywhere!"

The press, be it Dem or Repub, should address items for what they are.  If the Repubs are slinging crazy around...then take them to task with a vengeance.  If the Dems are slinging crazy around...then take them to task with a vengeance. But do so based on facts, real facts as they relate to the situation...and not sidebars...appearing for equivalencies sake...that don't really have anything to do with what's going on.  You don't introduce nuance and greys where none exist...or where it has little to do with the situation...because you don't want to *appear* to be biased.

I have no doubt that Dems can be just as big of dicks as the Repubs...but right now...the Repubs are being the uber assholes...call that shit out.

In the media's  quest (Oh the irony) other than Fox to be fair, and "balanced" they present both sides as if they had the same merit.  Fuck fair, and balanced.  They need to be fair, and factual.  How about fair, and honest?  But like everything else in this country it's probably about the money.  They don't want to piss off one group, and have them not watch/listen/read their shit anymore thus losing revenue.  Every one's just another cocksuckin whore.  Truth be damned.
