Do they?

Quote
Busloads of World War II veterans, many in wheelchairs, broke past a barricade Tuesday to cross into the World War II Memorial, as onlookers applauded and a man playing the bagpipes led the way.

Moments earlier, Republican members of Congress had removed a section of the black gates that surrounded the site, allowing a line of veterans to roll past security officers, who willingly stood aside.

Seriously? Oh, it gets juicier.

Dem Senator Tom Harkin was one of the ones PO'ed about the blocking of the vets, but check out who else was quoted in being shocked by the blockade:

"We've got park service employees out here," said Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas. "Why wouldn't you have them here to allow the veterans in, instead of stand and keep them from coming in?"

Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, wearing casual clothes, said she was out walking when she heard about the pile-up at the memorial and decided to hustle over to the site.

"Who's going to say no to a World War II veteran? I certainly wouldn't," Bachmann said.

"America is not shutting down," she also said, pointing to the veterans.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa argued this should be considered a "slow down," not a "shutdown."

Gohmert? Bachmann? King?  You are the last people on earth that should be complaining.  You created this mess, you assholes.

Gohmert chided his Republican colleagues of being "scared to death" of a shutdown.  Bachmann got all tingly and "very excited" at the prospect of a shutdown, saying it is "exactly what we wanted."  King has said that choosing a shutdown is better than living with Obamacare.

Well I say: take your shutdown and eat it.  It's on your heads.  And rather than storming the barricades with WWII vets in wheelchairs to gain quick press points, maybe you should explain to them whose fault it was in the first place.

I tuned into Hannity on the radio today and he was talking to this and that Rep begging them to hold the line and not give in.. He said his greatest fear is that the establishment GOP'ers will give in to Obama and cave..

wtf? 'give in'..

this isn't 'giving in' to anyone.. this is doing your fucking job and keeping the country open..

each and every GOP'er he had on the show whine that Obama just refused to 'compromise' on this issue... that instead of 'working with the House' and 'Republicans' to 'get the country moving forward' he played golf and Harry Reid went home..while the poor House Rep's were working their litte hearts out trying to save the Gov't, the good faith and credit of the Country and Freedom..

no, I'm not inserting words here.. these were the words used by either Hannity or the House Gop'ers he had on..

None of them seem to understand... there is nothing to compromise on here. this is a law that was already argued, compromised, enacted and found to be legal.. there is nothing to compromise on..

it's the most bizarre thing I've witnessed yet..

and with this fucked up bunch of whackos... that's saying alot.

We're arguing with Intelligent Design proponents.  Every single one of them would vote straight yes on adding ID to science curriculum if they could.  That's the mentality you're working with. That's the mentality you're trying to *compromise* with.  They see the world, not a little different than you or I, they see it completely differently where it makes perfect sense and is quite fair to incorporate it as an "alternative *science*."

I always keep that little detail in my brain when watching and listening to their gums flap on other issues.

HAHA!  So very very true..

I watched some of Bret Baier also the night of the shutdown.. he had a guest on and I wasn't paying too much attention to what they were talking about because it was some kids sports thing.. anyway, Baier ended that topic by saying "Well, that's what happens when you live in a 'everyone gets a trophy' society"...

I was like "Ugh, fuck you dude" and went to turn the channel.. but then he followed that gem with this, a better, one..

"President Obama still refuses to compromise with the House Republicans to stop the shutdown from happening"..

the utter irony...

whining about living in an 'everyone gets a trophy' world... and then shutting down the gov't because you didn't get a 'trophy' after you lost and no one will give you one..

That's it EXACTLY! Irony is lost on them. Like Bachmann and the other rep who jumped right on the WWII vets pushing the "Closed" sign out of the way to see the WWII memorial, standing tall and all patriotic with them...THAT THEY JUST FUCKING CLOSED!

I mean you literally can't make this up and you literally can't make them see that what they did, has a DIRECT CORRELATION to the memorial being closed!

So we have two scenarios here.

1.  They're literally incapable of detecting ironic situations they had the primary hand in creating.

2.  They're quite aware of the ironic situation they created, but will plow through it anyway as if they didn't.

I gotta be honest...I don't know which is worse.

It would be like 8 co workers taking a vote to see what to eat. 6 chose pizza and 2 Chinese.
The shut down is equivalent to the 2 people who wanted Chinese barricading the door and not letting the pizza guy in.

The problem is the GOP is getting shit on in the polls. They will have to throw in the towel and probably cost themselves 2016.

If you are so against Obamacare run a presidential candidate in 2016 and have that be their main plank. See how far that gets you in the election.

Nailed it.

If you have a better idea for the ACA...then present it.  Contrast it with how much better it would be line item by line item.  Just saying THIS SUCKS is only going to cut it with the ideologues.  If you think we're better off without the ACA entirely, then you've got to make your case with real facts, not misinformation, misconceptions and bold-faced lies.

What did they come up with? The Voucher. We see how far that went. It took about a week of actual facts to drown that shit in the tub.

LOL.. you mean like Romney did... overandoverandoverandover again he said "Day one, I'll repeal Obamacare" and he lost his ass for it..

problem is, along with no acceptance of 'irony' that Chuck and I were talking about.. they have no real memory (or shame) either. Because not 24 hours ago a panel on Fox was discussing how wrong Obama is to say that he was elected with a mandate on Obamacare because he never ran against anyone on Obamacare. Romney never ran on it repealing it. Ryan never talked about repealing it.. the clusterfuck that was the GOP primary, hardly ever even mentioned Obamacare much less repealing it..

I shit you not.. this was discussed by the panel and all agreed that Obama was just lying to everyone because noone really understood that they'd get the ACA if they re-elected him.

That's the kind of abdication I'm talking about. It's bad enough when you agendize news, taking liberties with omissions or additions, playing with facts so it fits the narrative you're pushing...it's entirely another when you look straight into the camera or down at your keyboard for the *journalistic* piece you're about to write...and just lie.  Lie without shame.  Lie because you need the world to be exactly as you see it or wish it to be.  Lie because you need others to see the world the way you see it or wish it to be. Lie because your desires trump all facts, all reality. Lie because that's what you were paid to do.  It's beyond disgusting and reprehensible.

Example...

(sorry, couldn't get the embed to work)

Here we have Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Tex.) attempting to rip the ass out of a Park Ranger. A Park Ranger who is just doing her job...a job made that much more difficult, by Rep. Neugebauer, who voted to shut the Government down...and who is now shaming her for something she has zero to do with, has zero control over.

He, on the other hand, has either the giant balls, giant ignorance (or both) to somehow hold HER accountable...for something he created.  Oh and I guess it doesn't hurt that the press is there and that he's got an American Flag literally hanging out of his pocket. YEA PATRIOTISM!

THIS...this, among several things, is what's wrong with Government...and it's only going to get worse as the districts (both gerrymandered and entrenched) see him either re-elected or someone exactly like him.  I think we're literally looking at an entire new generation coming onto the scene, who will be tired of party wars, money in politics and undeserved incumbencies, before anything really changes.

I had NO idea that these mutha fuckers have been planing this for years.  Are you fucking shitting me?  But they dress up as Minute Men because they're "Patriots".   These are some sick bastards.  Governing means nothing.  "Winning" at any cost means everything.  The spin never ends.  As Maddow says they control 1/2 of 1/3 of federal government.
