Just checked Fox. They're talking about Obama's disapproval rating. Nothing about Va even in the crawler.

Eh, both choices weren't really the best choices.  McAuliffe is shady with no experience in state politics and Cuccinelli was shady and thinks religion trumps secular.  So on the social mores end of the spectrum, Virginia at large won.  They won't have to worry about a fag hating, anti-christ believing, controlling women cadre sitting at the helm...but for everything else?...I guess Virginians will just have to wait and see.

I will note, however, that for all the religiously inspired crazy talk Cuccinelli's camp spewed and made no apologies for, for all the disenfranchisement he and his companions pretty much admitted they were going to undertake...that race was uncomfortably close. Just a 3 percentage point separation.  I'm not sure if that speaks more to how there could have been a better choice than McAuliffe, party line voting, or if that 45 percent number is a more or less accurate picture of how many find nothing wrong (or are in agreement with) someone who would Govern first and foremost THROUGH religion...and extremist religion to boot.

I giggled when this went down...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/06/chuck-todd-cnn-election-maddow_n_4224649.html

Quote
On Tuesday night, Rachel Maddow called the Virginia governor's race for Terry McAuliffe and threw to Chuck Todd, who was at the Democrat's victory reception. Surely, she wondered, the place must be going crazy with the news?

Well, not so much.

"Word hasn't trickled in," Todd said. "They're watching another channel, and I'll just leave it at that, Rachel."

"Serves them right!" Maddow said, laughing.

"If they get slower news, what are we supposed to do?" Todd continued. "I think word will trickle in that maybe they ought to change the channel if they want to know who won the Virginia governor's race."

And what channel was that? Well, seconds later, CNN's John King could be seen on a big TV right behind Todd.

Seriously? there is no way Christie's win can be extrapolated as "repubs can win the hispanic vote". Christie is an outlier

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2013/11/06/christie-hispanics-republicans/3456033/

Quote
WASHINGTON — Republicans are looking at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's success with Hispanics as a sign that the party can win back a growing voting bloc that has turned away from them in recent elections.

Christie won 51% of the Hispanic vote Tuesday on his way to cruising to a second term, according to a survey of voters as they left their polling places. That was a 19-point increase from his showing in 2009.

"Conservative Republicans can get a significant share of the Hispanic vote provided they reach out aggressively and campaign in Hispanic communities," said Whit Ayres, a GOP pollster. "It makes a huge difference when you have an attitude of inclusiveness and make a serious effort to gain the votes of non-white voters."

Yeah now - about that immigration reform bill...

Now THAT'S spin!

In all reality my home state, NJ, has a HUGE Hispanic population. But let's face facts, Christie won because of Hurricane Sandy and a weak challenger,

 Wink

Not too mention Christie's good for Jersey. He knows it, knows how it works, knows how to act and how to come off like a regular Jersey-ian... Hell, I like him and would probably vote for him as my Gov if he's just get off the conservative social values shit.. IMO if he loses that baggage, he could beat HRC in a presidential match up..

well, depending on what HRC finds when she 'vets' him out... Obviously he's got skeletons because Mitt drop him like a hot potato after vetting him..
