Well, it was his property after all, er wife.
When someone has lost the mental capacity to recognize you, let alone consent to sex, I don't care if you've been married for 50 years, where every night was a freak carnival of splooge cannons and ass expeditions to your shoulder...you just stop. You don't anymore, because the person, that person isn't there anymore. Who knows, maybe he got his rocks off fucking a stranger, who just happened to be his wife.
What people can rationalize just floors me.
