Seriously...what a fucking idiot.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-04-07/news/os-scott-maxwell-disabled-cuts-04081120110407_1_autism-and-related-disabilities-rick-scott-cerebral-palsy

Quote
Late last week, Gov. Rick Scott blindsided tens of thousands of disabled Floridians and their caregivers by signing an executive order to immediately cut their funding.

Yet that very same day, the governor made time for a photo op — for the Special Olympics Torch Run.
"We've got to make sure that we take care of those who have struggled and have a disadvantage," the governor said with the cameras present.

Scott was right, even if his timing was galling.

Florida's Agency for Persons with Disabilities serves about 35,000 people — from the mildly disabled to wheelchair-bound Floridians who can barely do a thing for themselves.

Because balancing the budget on the backs of those in wheelchairs is unconscionable.

Quote
Targeting a low-paid caregiver who prepares meals and changes adult diapers lacks both sense and compassion.

Quote
This state gives away hundreds of millions — even billions — of dollars in special-interest tax breaks, double-dipping politicians and corporate giveaways.

I'm getting so tired of hearing this. Over and over, this kind of 'austerity' is all you see from these Tea-baggers.. they don't care about anything but tax breaks for special interests and corporation and themselves.. they can, will and do fuck everyone and everything else to get those things also. It's happening everywhere. All you hear from this or that state is another story just like this one and they all have some versions of the above sentences in them.. and yet? it still goes on..I don't know how we can survive, in tact, it's not like we'll(across the country) be getting rid of these asshats anytime soon..

and the suck part.. It's not like we didn't know Rick Scott was scum-bag thief..it's not like we didn't know this (and worse that is coming) was going to happen.. but the  hate-loving tea-baggers suckers voted for him anyway... none will admit it, but someone sure as hell did or he wouldn't be there to do this kind of shit.

I just had a very heartwarming picture in my mind of one of those special needs kids kicking that fucking asshole right in the balls.

But he probably doesn't have them either.

You can't jump up a little lower.  That's what the Tea Party seems to encompass.  They blend reality, with preferred reality and it's all suppose to magically work.

We either take care of our indigent, old and disabled...or we don't.  There is no happy middle ground that excludes able bodied individuals from participating in programs for such, via their tax dollars. If we left it all up to charity, I can't imagine the scene.

I wish, oh how I wish, the tea party would just say EXACTLY what is on their mind which seems to be, by legislative move after legislative move,..."The working and very poor, old, children and disabled cut into our individual prosperity.  Leave them to their own fate."

If it weren't for the cold weather, as it relates to my health, I'd have seriously considered it some time ago.

What about the kids, Puffy? Any problem with taking them out of the country? Do you want me to move all this to your thread?

wow! congrats!  I'm envious..

soooooooooooooooo this whole thing took a very personal turn today. If anyone had seen wftv at about 5:15 they would have seen a story on this Rick Scott cut and who it is affecting, namely my cousin. Wftv interviewed my uncle because my cousin is a SIDS baby who stopped breathing at 5 weeks, his brain is complete mush, but his body still lives.. he's been living with my aunt and uncle for 20 years, he has to have constant (literally every 30 minutes) care 24/7. He gets 2 nurse rotations a day and that helps take some of the pressure off my aunt and uncle (so they can work, sleep, eat, live)  this cut took those nurses from him, the funds my aunt/uncle use to keep him alive and will have him shipped off to a 'group home' tonight..

I give him 6 months to live..

the kid isn't even as 'aware' as Terri Schiavo.. I can only hope that he doesn't have any idea what is happening. He's only known love and care and one home his entire, sad life.. now he'll be shuttled off to a group, state funded home, to be taken care of in God knows what way.. but not in the way he needs to live. Every 30 minutes he needs drops for his eyes because he can't blink, he needs his trach flushed because he can't swallow, and he needs his feeding tube cleaned.. he won't get that every 30 minute care in a group home..

damn..

Thank you Gov Scott and all who voted for you... I hope that tax cut for the wealthy was worth it..

I didn't see it, ekg. Hopefully it'll be online tomorrow.

I'm sure Chuck is equally affected.

What I cannot understand is how Scott can live with himself.

In a normal person's world no amount of money used to buy an election would be worth this.

I looked and couldn't find it either.. maybe they plan on using it tonight, IDK but I'll look again tomorrow and post it if they do..

that's what scares me.. maybe he isn't today, but he will be eventually.. and then I'll have to kill a motherfucker who takes from him what he needs to live.

people are scum. Muche is having a discussion on food stamps and most of the poster want to blood test the recipients, decide what car they can drive and from past discussions, pick and chose what foods and brands they should be allowed to buy.. it's a jealousy thing, they can't, because of their ideology, be jealous of the wealthy because they may be that wealthy person one day, so instead they are jealous of the sick, poor, elderly, disabled, police, teachers, firemen and any other union because all those people get something they don't.

what they don't get is at any minute, it could be them down there on the bottom, or living off a feeding tube, relying on medicaid or food stamps to get by..... and all with no one to help because they have already killed off all the help there was..

I am angry about this.  This kid will die on his own, why make him and his parents suffer anymore than they already have? just to give another fucking billionaire a tax cut?

it's sick.. and again, makes me envious of Puffy and her Canadian hopes..

I saw that on the muche...looks like some of the talking points were borrowed from here.  Wink

What's funny is the guy who drew unemployment over a year and receiving free health for his kid while bragging about his most recent drunk would be the first screaming against government intervention if he had been required to be tested for alcohol during that time.

Well see, that's different...because he's not one of "those" scumbag, dead beats...he was a recipient who used the system for it's true intent and even if he didn't...he's still not one of "them."

/end sarcasm/

I just watched it. How sad...

I'm sure there are those who will say those nurses make way too much money and your cousin will get better care in a group home.

Yeah, right.

Oh, its nothing serious yet-  just one of those passing "hey look at this job!" kind of things. We'll see.
