...and admits he'll lie about not wanting to until he gets elected.

I have but one question...when will the Republican Party realize what this maniacal megalomaniac sociopatch is up to?

Quote
According to a source in the room, Trump criticized Ryan’s proposed entitlement cuts as unfair and politically foolish. “From a moral standpoint, I believe in it,” Trump told Ryan. “But you also have to get elected. And there’s no way a Republican is going to beat a Democrat when the Republican is saying, ‘We’re going to cut your Social Security’

He's reaffirmed this position more than once. From his spokesman Sam Clovis:

Quote
"I think after the administration's been in place, then we will start to take a look at all of the programs, including entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare,"

and In Trump's own words:

Quote
...the entitlements, and you have all the other things that people are saying have to be cut and nobody wants to bring it up. But they’re really starting to say now that they’re going to have to look at that whether they like it or not

For some reason, he can say anything, no matter how horrible, and his supporters cheer.

people are morons.

I spoke today with a nice young man at Publix soliciting on behalf of a local Republican candidate.

While he was personable and all that I told him Trump and the crazies have destroyed the chances off every republican out there, from the top on down. People won't vote a straight Republican ticket because of them.

He actually agreed and thanked me for being so honest.

I remember reading an article where one of his supporters said she was voting for him and that he wouldn't really build the wall, kick out immigrants or do anything else he said he would do.

I thought usually one voted for a politician because one wanted them to do what they said they were going to do

But she just blithely assumed he was lying about everything so she was voting for him.

So sad

Glad this story came out; I hope it comes out again closer to November.

Hillary wouldn't be anywhere near the disaster that Trump would as President. But there's so much hate for her and the establishment and (whether they admit it or not) surface level racist resentment that's barely hidden now, that having a higher likelihood of burning it all down to the ground, with him as President, is preferable. Part of me knows that the majority of politicians, of their own accord, won't relinquish their position or power or connection to fat cash for the greater good and understands the *burn it to the ground* mentality in that regard.

But I also know for all the talk about jobs and prosperity, and *taking it to the establishment*, it's heavily intermingled with xenophobia and bigotry. I'm convinced if Trump hopped on mic tomorrow and basically said, "And if we're going to be honest, I'm not so sure we can get the jobs back we lost, we'll try, but don't hold your breath. But you bet your ass we'll get the dam foreigners out and the worlds going to remember, whether they like it or not, why America is the greatest country and should dam well be feared and respected...", you'd see little of his base support fall off. This is what they want to hear, whether it can be delivered on or not. I think many of his supporters are aware he's full of shit sqaured. They're aware of the insane amount of flip-flops, lies and contradictions...but they're Okay with it...because he's saying and doing what they feel they've been hamstrung from speaking. And when you feel you've been silenced, if feels good to finally run your mouth unashamed.

This is far less about actual change to the establishment, than it is about the feel good. If it were really about change, minus the bigot wink and nudges, then Trump wouldn't have nearly the base support he does. He struck the right chord in that regard. When Obama became President a lot of realities got bent over and slammed. When he got elected a second time, those realities cracked. It wasn't a fluke. People freaked. With Trump's literal 4th grade understanding of policy and economics, that's all the evidence I needed to know that all the screaming of establishment change, came second to the vitriol. Because you sure as fuck wouldn't hire a mechanic who couldn't point out where the transmission is, let alone couldn't explain to you what it's for. You wouldn't remotely consider them in a serious capacity. Trump is that bullshit mechanic, holding a wrench, looking at the truck...who doesn't have a fucking clue where or what a transmissions is/for.

No offense, but I suspect the level of hate for Trump is higher and more widespread.

from a novel about WWII written by a Jewish man who went thru it.... so not an actual quote, but captures the sentiment he saw in his friends-

"Smashing windows is fine. Any act of violence is good. "Down with the Yids" is idiotic, agreed! But what does it matter? The point is to shake the country up a bit. Begin with the Jews  if there's no other way. But finish higher up, with a general conflagration, with an all-consuming earthquake".

(quote from "For Two Thousand Years" by Mihail Sebastian)

I think that's what Trump voters are thinking. Smash it all! Maybe they don't have anything against hispanics and muslims, but it gets the fire going.

And they are paying NO ATTENTION to the potential consequences of their actions. None at all. Usually because hey - they are white; they have jobs; it won't affect them.

Scary and sad.
