So I'm checking out the headlines on Drudge to see what lilMike will be talking about on here today and came across this:

Quote
Haley Barbour undergoes surgery for campaign-related ailment...

The source, a Mississippi paper, says:

Quote
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, has returned to the Governor's Mansion after having surgery to relieve lower back pain.

The 63-year-old Republican, who has traveled extensively during the past year, said Monday's surgery provided immediate relief. He told The Associated Press recently that walking and sitting on airplanes have caused discomfort.

The neurosurgeon who performed the procedure, Dr. Jack Moriarity, said in a statement from the governor's office that the surgery relieved pressure on nerves in the lower back. Moriarity said Barbour's prognosis was excellent.

yeah right...Sure it wasn't from kissing too much teabagger ass!

lol...they've got a reporter in Texas trying to go all Barbara West!

From Drudge...

Quote
FIRST TIME: REPORTER TURNS AGGRESSIVE WITH OBAMA

Umm...nope.

Quote
VIDEO: 'Why do you think you're so unpopular in Texas?'

Why?

Quote
Republican Gov. Rick Perry harshly and frequently criticizes the president over the health care law, EPA regulation on oil and gas industries in Texas and the budget. But the president hinted at hypocrisy by the Texas governor.

"Gov. Perry helped balance his budget with about $6 billion worth of federal help — which he happily took — and then started blaming the members of Congress who had offered that help," Obama said.

Oh...but he HATES TEXAS! Bring on the conspiracies!

Quote
Houston Republicans and Democrats suspect the Obama administration skipped Houston to award retired space shuttle orbiters to states that would help in the president's reelection.

Umm...One went to Florida.  Wink

I went to the local station's website and a lot of the comments (were) from some pissed off people. They thought the  reporter was an asshat and they are embarrassed he acted the way he did.. I agree, he was a asshole....

I don't give a fuck if you like the man's politics or not, when sitting in the goddamn white house and/or in front of the goddamn President of the United States, show Dick some fucking respect!

This pissed me off as much as that shoe-throwing Iraqi did.. what the fuck kind of society are we when we cheer on a low-brow, Podunk reporter for acting like an asshole to a sitting President of the United States.. His mother raised him well didn't she? Mine would have busted me in the mouth for all that interrupting.... Jeez..

After Reagan paid lip service to looking into frivolous law suits, they worsened. People are going to claim anything you can imagine and some we haven't regarding that some outside entity is responsible for their every medical malady, as if we are not supposed to have any ailments that come from work and choices and free will.

If she's trying to charge this to the campaign funds then that's a story, if not, just another senstionist headline.

Oh....not any story in particular. Just looks like you're getting all your talking points from him now.

And another side note, after reading that, It's become apparent you've gone all Sam on us with your use of Drudge as a source.  Embarrassed

After the Breitbart thing yesterday, I didn't think Drudge could outdo himself in less than 24 hours.

BOOK TO REVEAL OBAMA'S TRUE IDENTITY?

Here's what the link took you to...

WTF?

I don't check his site all the time but this made me wonder what passes for news these days. SP was just at a freaking brunch for special needs kids and Drudge/politico call's it turning heads. It seems like he's going borderline tabloid. I still don't understand why he's so associated with the Right. it seems to be primarily sensationalistic stuff more than a political agenda.

I'm not sure.  Since he is Howey's latest obession (last month it was the Koch Brothers) I have a hard time figuring out who deserves the two minutes of hate.  It switches every month or so.

Once again, I was pondering something in an existential sort of way or thinking that other intelligent people might have an opinion about what passes for news. It had nothing to do with childish behavior that you constantly exhibit.

You'll have to be more specific.  I doubt we have the same idea as to what passes for childish.

Several inches up I made the post about Palin without thinking about anyone's personality or anything to do with an individual on this board. The very first thing you did was(I guess)playfully attack Howey. Where I come from that's childish and extremely non productive on a forum where we want people to participate. I get the impression that you don't think I ever have any idea what I'm talking about or that if I type, I'm automatically wrong before it's read.

Doesn't bother me since I've tried at least once to never deal with you again but I do like you and feel like there's more to you than what is expressed on forums. You come across to me as terminally right, meaning that you're desire for argument and partisanship trumps all else. I'm pressed to think of anyone else that hasn't indicated a growth of some sort by what they write in the last decade. It's like even with all of our differences I believe that we could hypothetically enjoy a cup of joe together and discuss and laugh. But online I'm still seeing the same person I did when we first met.

I would hardly call it an attack on Howey.  I don't think Howey would consider it an attack on Howey.  And it was not without context.  You made a remark about an issue that has been commented on here on this board several times.

Look, if you don't want to deal with me, just let me know and I won't respond to any of your topics or posts.  Frankly, I thought I was doing you a favor to try to show interest in some of your subjects, without being snarky.  And given the nature of the topics that interest you, that's not always easy.  I've tried to treat you and your obsessions somewhat seriously, which is why I've been asking what I thought were pointed questions relating to your issues.  But I'm not going to work overtime on it.

And I likewise have tried to find a more common ground in talking about tv or other non political things. The only reason that I tried to not deal with you anymore is that I don't ever recall an attitude of being open to learning or ever admitting mistakes and that sort of thing. But no, I'm not requesting that we don't communicate. I believe people's differences can make them stronger and at this time, I would consider myself to be childish if I wanted us to pretend like the other is not there.
