Another 2012 hopeful display massive ignorance:

Quote
Under fire from Democrats, Mitt Romney on Monday a corrected a morning opinion piece he wrote in the Union Leader, explaining later that he didn't mean to say that America was in "peacetime."

In a column for the New Hampshire newspaper, Romney slammed President Barack Obama's handling of the federal budget, accusing him of leading "one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history."

But the U.S. has a major ground force in Afghanistan, warplanes over Libya and a lingering presence in Iraq — so far this month alone, 37 Americans have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan — and Romney's camp said on Monday evening that he made a mistake.

"He meant to say since World War II," spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in an email

I guess he didn't intend it to be a factual statementEmbarrassed Grin

How does that ""He meant to say since World War II,"

even fit into this ""one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history."

"one of the biggest peacetime spending binges  since World War II."

would still be inaccurate since we're still not in peacetime and haven't been for quit a while..and WWII  wasnt exactly a peacetime either..

so how is that sentence supposed to go with their new 'add-on' to what he did actually say..

That's the new line these days. It's a lie, but so's everything else.

With all of Romney's failures regarding foreign policy, this is one of the funniest. Maybe he just wanted to ignore the fact that wars cost money, especially wars that Bush financed through the Chinese. Those interest payments get mighty high, ya know.

I'm trying to remember any mention of it, but has there ever been a balanced budget during wartime?
