More on those damn socialists!

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2011/01/the_founders_health-care_manda.html

If you read Rick Ungar's excellent explanation of the bill, you'll see it was a bit different than the individual mandate: It was a payroll tax that all sailors on private merchant ships had to pay, and in return, they were basically given access to a small public health-care system. But it was, in essence, a regulation against a form of inactivity: You were not allowed to not do something, in this case, pay for sailor's health insurance.

And by the way, if conservatives really do prefer a system of payroll taxes that purchase you public insurance to the private system envisioned in the Affordable Care Act, I'm sure there are a lot of liberals who would vote for a bill that repealed the Affordable Care Act and replaced it with Medicare-for-all.

double tee hee!

I think it's fucking hilarious that the party that started the 'welfare queen' myth that has ingrained itself on the psyche of every member of their party to the point where they don't get that those sucking gov't tit also include medicare/social security folk.. the same party who whines all day long that if you do something for the good of this country, someone, somewhere may get something they did not pay for or did not deserve so let's kill it all... is the same party who now wants the one piece of legislation that ensures no one gets something for nothing removed from the bill.

wtf is right Sarah. wtf do you want to give that gov't tit to people who didn't earn it?

these people are so transparent..they don't have a modicum of legitimacy anymore.. I would respect them more if they'd just admit that this healthcare opposition is really just their last bastion of 'class warfare'.. atleast there is nobility in  truthiness...
