Fake eviction notices from Americans for Prosperity* scare families in right wing attempt to build a bridge

Quote
The state director of the conservative group Americans for Prosperity offered no apologies today for papering homes in Detroit’s Delray district Monday with fake eviction notices.

Bearing the words “Eviction Notice” in large type, the bogus notices told homeowners their properties could be taken by the Michigan Department of Transportation to make way for the New International Trade Crossing bridge project. The NITC is the subject of debate in Lansing, and Americans for Prosperity is lobbying heavily against it.

“It was meant to startle people,” Scott Hagerstrom, the group’s state director, said today. “We really wanted people to take notice. This is the time that their opinions need to be heard. We wanted people to read it.”

The fake eviction notices sparked outrage in Southwest Detroit, with State Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who represents the area in Lansing, complaining that the tactic has created chaos among the district’s residents.

*Americans for Prosperity (from SourceWatch):

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a group fronting special interests started by oil billionaire David Koch and Richard Fink (a member of the board of directors of Koch Industries). AFP has been accused of funding astroturf operations but also has been fueling the "Tea Party" efforts. [1] AFP's messages are in sync with those of other groups funded by the Koch Family Foundations and the Koch's other special interest groups that work against progressive or Democratic initiatives and protections for workers and the environment. Accordingly, AFP opposes labor unions, health care reform, stimulus spending, and cap-and-trade legislation, which is aimed at making industries pay for the air pollution that they create. AFP was also involved in the attacks on Obama’s "green jobs" czar, Van Jones, and has crusaded against international climate talks. According to an article in the August 30, 2010 issue of The New Yorker, the Kochs are known for "creating slippery organizations with generic-sounding names," that "make it difficult to ascertain the extent of their influence in Washington." AFP's budget surged from $7 million in 2007 to $40 million in 2010, an election year.

I believe they refer to themselves as libertarians(Kochs). I'm pretty sure they're interpretation or bastardization of the word and the principles behind libertarianism are continents apart.

that's pretty much the truth of it. It's the same with this idea that what's going on now is just pro-capitalism... when it's the furthest thing from capitalism.. but ppl like the Koch brother and Palin and Rove and Roger Ails have bastardized the words and their true meaning.. they made them into 'buzz' words to rally people who don't really know the difference.. The real shame are the intelligent people who have bought into this bastardization because they to, don't know the difference, but they like to think of themselves a libertarian/pro-capitalism..they're letting the 'wolves' wrap themselves up in these cloaks with this or that buzz word attached to them.. all out of some sick need of recognition I guess.. I don't know why else they allow it when the goals of most of these people wrapped in that cloak of words are in total opposition to the positions they claim to champion..

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them.  Balance is irrelevant to me.  It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)
