No wonder the turnout for the primaries are so low. YOu have a dude that will tell you anything you want to hear. The other guy is running around barking out Satan, like he has some form of God Warrior tourettes. The last guy is running as an outsider with family values. That guy has cheated on every wife, wants to be a swinger and has been charge with doing illegal shit while a member of Congress.

The only guy that AUH20 would consider as a conservative, the Rhinos hate because he doesn't want to bomb every fucking body.

IF the GOP could ever get back to these ideas, they currently would not have apathy in their own party.

The religious factions will go on imposing their will on others unless the decent people connected to them recognize that religion has no place in public policy.  They must learn to make their views known without trying to make their views the only alternatives. . .  We have succeeded for 205 years in keeping the affairs of state separate from the uncompromising idealism of religious groups and we mustn’t stop now. To retreat from that separation would violate the principles of conservatism and the values upon which the framers built this democratic republic.”

- Senator Barry Goldwater, September 15, 1981, speech to the U.S. Senate.

The point is the God Warriors are running the asylum. There is no way in hell Rick Santorum should even still be in the race, unless the God Warriors were running the show. Santorums voting record, shows he is no conservative. The guy lost his own fucking state by 18 points. Let that marinate, 18 FREAKING POINTS! That is a blowout in political terms and this guy is going to be your nominee. I feel like I am taking crazy pills, watching this GOP circus.

Romneys only hope is to bludgeon Elton John to death with a bible, and make sure there is video of it.
I used to respect conservative principals but that party sold out to the Christian Taliban a long time ago.

The speech itself?

Equally sad.

problem is, the God-warriors don't believe that.. or they don't believe that it was a 'success', but more like a catastrophe that we've never allowed it..

and unfortunately, it's not just the God-warriors.. congressional, non-GW, GOP'ers fall all over themselves trying everything they can to go against Obama. You can't tell me McConnell or Cantor buy one word of Bachman's or Santorum's God stuff, but if they can hurt Obama.. or think they can,  they go all 'borg' with whomever is leading the GOP primary polls.. It's that "Borg" like style that's killing the GOP.. and worse than that, it's killing liberalism.. because they are soooooooooooooooooo far right, that to try and even get close to meeting them half-way means a giant step over to the right..

maybe that's the goal tho... to destroy the party so they can build it back up in the image those few select shot-callers want to make it into..

my question to people like Mike is, I know you're not a God-warrior, (in fact in his case he's an avowed agnostic boarding on full-blown atheism...) so how do you cast your vote for either Santorum, who's so far right he's in mullah/sharia law territory.. or Romney who follows the leader to score points even if that leader and the points change weekly.. isn't your country better with Obama? even if you don't agree with 50% of what he does? You know he's not going to govern thru his religious-colored glasses, nor is he going to change direction when the wind blows..

I guess the answer to that depends on your status.. if you're white, hetero male, you're pretty safe.. but anything else and you're going to be in trouble if any of these GOP candidates win..

hahaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha... didn't see that coming.. HA!

I used to respect conservative principals but that party sold out to the Christian Taliban a long time ago.

the irony of this is simply amazing.. for all these years that party has tried to kill anything 'Muslim'... be it bans on mosques, or sharia law.. or whatnot... They have sold us fear and terror since 9/11, they have taken our rights in the name of 'fighting radical Islam', they've even spread fear that a community in Michigan is being ruled by Sharia Law, so other states passed laws banning it... along with a list too many to name..and here they have turned into the same religious extremist they sold us fear on for a decade, only they worship God/Jesus instead of Allah/Mohammed..

Rick Santorum  said

Quote
"“Unlike Islam, where the higher law and civil law are the same, in our case we have civil laws. But our civil laws have to comport with the higher law,” Santorum said. “As long as abortion is legal – at least according to the Supreme Court – legal in this country, we will never have rest because that law does not comport with God’s law that says all life has value. And as long as there is an incongruence between the two, we will have agitation."
[/quote]

and

Quote
“Essentially, we are going to have to hold together on some set of moral codes and principles,” Santorum said at the Sabbar Shrine in downtown Tucson, speaking before an enthusiastic tea party crowd of about 500 people ahead of an evening CNN debate.

“And we’re seeing very evidently what the president’s moral codes and principles are about. We see a president who is systematically trying to crush the traditional Judeo-Christian values of America. We saw it with Obamacare and the implementation of Obamacare, where his values are going to be imposed on a church’s values.

Sharia Law from wiki says "the moral code and religious law of Islam."

switch out "Islam" for "Christianity" and how is he not Sharia-Santorum?

I'm certainly in no position to answer for lilMike but despite his religious ambiguity, there's an obvious pro-extreme evangelistic Christian fervor in his Islamophobia-fueled diatribes on what he assumes to be an assault on what he considers true American God And Country religion.
