Lots of them are falling to the wayside right now because the Trumpliblican vs. 2016.1 is sucking all of their oxygen out of the room.

Cheesy

I thought Obama's numbers on the issues, as well as his overall favorable numbers, went up after the latest successes?

Not much, but that is pretty usual for US politics in the 21st century, if you ask me.

You just now figured out they're not very bright?

Naah, just confirming a very old observation...

ON this thread at USMB, a buddy of mine started a thread over Michael Mooore and something kind that he did:

http://www.usmessageboard.com/threads/michael-moore-anonymously-pays-the-medical-premiums-of-his-biggest-critic.433011/#post-11915588

I, being the good cookie-crunching, very large female-breast loving red-blooded Statistikhengst that I am, went to the link in the OP and noticed that the article is 8 years old.

My buddy set a trap for RWNJs.

And they jumped right into it and wailed and gnashed teeth and all sorts of cool stuff.

They really are not very bright.

Bodies the size of a buffoon. Brain that would make even an amoebe be ashamed.

This thread will fill up with RWNJ stupidity very, very quickly, and not just the famous Tea-party misspelled placard type of stupidity.

I am going to enjoy this thread greatly.

Yeah, I have several gamer friends I Skype with overseas. Australia, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Japan, couple of Canadians...and when talks turn to the US occasionally, especially politics, my butthole tightens a little, haha. Because I know when they ask me, "So, is it really true such and such happened?" "Did they really try to pass, blah-blah." "Do some of your politicians really believe evolution is a lie/earth is 6,000 years old?" I just sigh a little and bemoan..."Yes." The reactions range from disbelief (I mean literally, questioning, doesn't register disbelief) to mocking laughs, to actual gasps...siiiggghh.

I tell them I'm liberal/progressive and have centrist views on some things. I've explained what that means as far as US party ideology is concerned so they can contrast it with their similar counter parts. And I try to be as honest as possible, without putting my own ideological spin on it. Which is harder than I thought, but I do my best.

The overall consensus seems to be...we're stupid, lol.

I do hope your butthole is surviving these harrowing ordeals!!!

 Grin

Most of my German and French friends and colleagues think that American politics are about at batshit crazy as it can get without killing the bat and drinking it's blood whilst singing the Star Spangled Banner, half drunk, or so....

But the love US, the people.
12  Politikal / Political News and Election Coverage / Re: Current PEW CENTER data on both parties, congress, Pres. Obama and issues on: July 25, 2015, 01:24:16 pm
And just on a comparative note, how did PEW do in the 2012 elections?  Well, it's last poll was released on November 4th, 2012, with 2,709 LV respondents, MoE = +/-2.2

Obama 50 / Romney 47, Obama +3

Actual result:

Obama 51.01% / Romney 47.15%, Obama +3.86%

So, Pew was off one point to the Right in it's final poll, but the Romney topline was right on the mark and Pew picked the winner.

Pew, Angus Reid (out of Canada), ABC/ WAPO and Democracy Corps (D) were the only pollsters with traditional methodology who got it close to the mark in their national end-polling for 2012.

We lost our Daphne-dog in Jan, to cancer.  We miss her so much. We still have her brother, Wolfie; and we're down to 2 cats.

My heart goes out to you, then. Here are pics of my pooch, Klia, when she was young, in her last year, and then, just one month before her death, with my little princess Statalina.

GOP s Favorability Rating Takes a Negative Turn Pew Research Center

Lots of details in this very well written survey.

First, the GOP's image has taken a hit, and not just with D's or I's, but with R's as well.

Overall:

Favorability:

Democratic Party: 48 fav / 47 unfav, fav +1
Republican Party: 32 fav / 60 unfav, fav -28

Quote
Republicans, in particular, are now more critical of their own party than they were a few months ago. About two-thirds (68%) express a favorable opinion of their party, the lowest share in more than two years. Six months ago, 86% of Republicans viewed the GOP positively.

That quote is also represented by this graphic:

On Issues:

Encouraging for the Republicans should be the polling result that shows that the public is pretty much split as to which party is better on Immigration (Reform, I assume). Likewise, the DEMS should be encouraged that the same applies to taxes, an area where the Republican Party was once considered far more reliable.

Exremely encouraging for the Republicans is the +10 margin over "terrorist threat". The Democratic Party used to be at parity with the GOP on this point. But equally encouraging for the Democrats should be the +10 margin in the rubrik of "Health Care".

But back to immigration: there is a huge racial AND age gap on this issue:

I think those numbers speak for themselves, but the figures are interesting as Latinos as a group alone were not polled.

Congress as a whole, fav/unfav:

US Congress (both Houses): fav 25 / unfav 69, fav -24

Interestingly enough, such harsh disapproval of Congress runs across all party lines and the data is very uniform:

Actually, that's kind of amazing statistic in many ways.

President Obama gets some bad grades from the American people:

Quote
Obama’s job approval rating is little changed over the first half of 2015, with Americans about equally likely to say they approve of his performance (48%) as disapprove (45%).

And, more specific:

The President has taken a pretty major hit on Foreign Policy and he is also not doing well on Climate Change at all. What should be encouraging for him are the health care numbers, which, although still negative (-4), are a great improvement over the last year.

According to Pew, most Americans don't think that Pres. Obama is tough enough on Foreign Policy:

So, in a nutshell, the Democratic Party as a whole is doing better than the Republican Party, the Congress itself, as a total entity, has crappy numbers, and Obama's numbers are middling to mediocre.

This is a good way to learn what the Pew Center is all about and how it ticks:

15  Welcome to Bizarro Amerika / Recommended Improvement Areas / 3 improvements for the elections area on: July 25, 2015, 04:15:44 am
One improvement I already PMd to the deities of PC, namely a subforum just for electoral statistics, because those numbers are are a continuing data-stream, independent of just one election.

And then, since I sense that 2016 is likely to be the most racous, knock-down, drag-out campaign I have ever seen in my lifetime (we may all be wearing body-condoms when it's all over and the nuclear-winter sets in) and since tons of stuff only related to Hillary and whichever goonhead finally gets nominated to get bitch-slapped by her finally emerges, I recommend two subforums:

GE  - presidential
GE  - congressional

because there are also going to be a series of really, really hot marquee races in the US Senate as well. And by not specifying a year, we won't have to open new subforums in 2018 or 2020.

I know it seems like splitting hairs, but considering how much data is going to be coming in, it helps to keep things cleaner when looking in the rearview mirror in years to come. Tidyness is next to horniness. Oh wait, that's wrong. Tidyness is next to gruffness. Oh wait, that's wrong too... darnit!!!

Besides, elections are cool...  Cool Cool Cool Cool

And let us all now sing Kumbayah!
