Now Howey...He reversed himself on everything. He authorized sending Gitmo 'detainees' to other locations as well as claiming executive authority to apprehend any citizen with no more rights than an Iraqi.

I was fooled along with most people but if he had been serious he could have accomplished a hell of a lot in the first 6 months when he had a majority.

I don't know if I consider myself 'fooled' or just...  well you want things, say things, promise things, but when you get into the job you find out that things aren't as easy as you thought and/or promised. Do I like GITMO? Nope, but we were handed a burning bag of shit from the Bush admin and now if we smack it to put it out, we'll get shit all over us.. so, the only thing we can do is let it burn itself out.

IOW, we're stuck holding people who never should have been held in the 1st place because to release them now would really fuck us up.. so, we're stuck holding Bush's bag of shit. The ones we can release, we are..judiciously, the ones we can't? we're stuck with Thanks to the last guy who fucked everything up for the rest of us.

and unfortunately for us and Obama, that can be said for quite a few things.. but also unfortunate, is that we and he, cannot say that out loud without getting eye-rolls and snark.. *shrug*

Facts are the center. We don’t pretend that certain facts are in dispute to give the appearance of fairness to people who don’t believe them.  Balance is irrelevant to me.  It doesn’t have anything to do with truth, logic or reality. ~Charlie Skinner (the Newsroom)
