it doesn't matter what Obama does, Mike and the gOP will balk.. Russia and China fucked things up with their veto and now we have to hope Turkey and Saudi Arabia step up..

As for Syria, we already know what the Syrians will do. They’ve massacred before, and so far in this latest rebellion it looks like they’ve racked up a bigger body count than the Libyans.
Syria, along with Iran, is where we should have been supporting the opposition all along.

Syria, along with Iran, is where we should have been supporting the opposition all along.
Tell that to John McCain:Sen. John McCain says the United States should find ways to help the Syrian people under siege from President Bashar Assad, without putting American "boots on the ground."
McCain tells "CBS This Morning" there are several options available, ranging from medical care and technical assistance to safe havens for refugees of the violence.
McCain says Washington "should play a very important role, along with other nations." He says the Syrian government is killing its own people, and it's an international outrage.
The Arizona Republican says he wouldn't send NATO troops into Syria, but says "it's time we acted on behalf of the people who are being slaughtered." McCain, who lost the presidential election to Barack Obama four years ago, is the senior Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee. But, you don't care. You're hoping an incursion in Syria will lead to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. I can see millions of neo-cons creaming in their jeans right now, so go wipe yourself off.

why? so then you could have said "Libya and Egypt is where we should have been supporting the opposition all along" you may just get your wish.. as soon as we figure out how to arm the rebels... and well, when the rebels can get a little more organized. Iran is a tough call.. we've been saying for many many years we should intervene.. and we have.. our CIA has even overthrown their leaders.. and yet, they're still a problem. and because of our history of intervention, we can't really be the main force in this one..our involvement waters down a true 'grass-roots' uprising.. it makes it seem like it's been us all along, when it has really been them...

When it turns out the administration has been quietly working behind the scenes, diplomatically and militarily (Go Seal Team 6!), and we see a change in regime in Syria (and hopefully Iran), he'll be the first in line - along with Congress - screaming "He didn't ask permission!" Then there will be mumblings of impeachment and violations of the Constitution...

I hope the administration is working behind the scenes. However based on recent history, they may be waiting on the UN and France to tell them what to do though.
