I don't know..but it doesn't surprise me because I've seen this debate before... a black on white crime, obviously a 'hate crime', but not classified as such because many people don't consider a minority attacking a non-minority to be a hate crime..

Is it (this particular instance) that or is it simply a case of schoolkids fucking around with each other? Sometimes I think people read too much into an incident. In this case this kid's parents probably helped embellish the story, which was further embellished by Duke. Did the black kids really say "whitey" or is that what the mother said? Furthermore, nowhere does it actually say the "attackers" were black, nor that they attended the same school as Coon.

Oh. I thought that was about this:

http://abcnews.go.com/US/acid-attack-victim-bethany-storro-tells-police-faked/story?id=11658631

or this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57367497-504083/bonnie-sweeten-mother-who-faked-kidnapping-to-go-to-disney-world-sentenced-to-8-years/

All I could find about that was from obvious racist sites and "freedom" this or that.

The story is tracked to one Selwyn Duke, a well-known rabble rouser racist and white folk apologist. He took a basic news story about a kid who's eyelids were burned and turned into some so-called incident.

Here's the original story, from a reputable news source.

Check out the white trash family!

I smell a made-up story, here...  Wink

Now. What have you done with FaFa?Huh?

Jeez...my right ratio is shooting through the roof!

Part of the police investigation has included attempting to verify the veracity of the boy's claims.

This prompted the boy's mother earlier this month to complain that police were treating her son as a suspect.

"It's very frustrating because I feel like we're being brushed off and there's nothing that is happening for us," the mother said Monday.

But in a news conference held last month, detectives said what the boy experienced was a particularly heinous crime.

The case drew national attention last month because the boy is white and he said the two teen boys who set him on fire were African-Americans.

Jeez...my right ratio is shooting through the roof!

Yup!

The one we spoke about on here and on my forum...

Here's the police report (pdf) to refresh your memories. http://opnateye.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Coon-Final.pdf

The one who claimed to have been "set on fire" by two black kids from his school?

Like me, folks on both sides are questioning the real story.

Quote
I don't think the cops are looking for a meth lab but I wonder whether they are looking for anyone at all.  The cops won't go on camera, they don't think its a hate crime, the local outlets have dropped it - one logical explanation is that the kid's story doesn't hang together.

And a bonus baffler - the news video clearly shows the gasoline can allegedly used by the assailants still sitting next to the porch a day later.  Unless the news crew is engaging in creative reenactment, what kind of police investigation is that?  Surely even the Sanford PD would have wanted the gas container as evidence.

Well - maybe a thirteeen year old was playing with gas, lit himself up and lied to the cops and his parents.  In that scenario, letting it slide may be best for everyone.

Other outlets are also questioning the story.

Quote
The gas can which was allegedly used by the alleged assailants was not taken in by police as evidence. KMBC reported the gas can was still there “24 hours after” the attack, while they filmed their story. It would seem police could easily, with forensics nowadays, get fingerprints off the can and identify the suspects almost immediately.

Quote
Reports of Allen being “doused” with gasoline are not correct, Graves said. The gas can was dropped, spilling some of the contents on the porch and splashing some on the alleged victim and assailants. Comments on the Youtube videos question how the boy only receive first degree burns if he was “doused” in gasoline and how he could possibly put out the fire with a gasoline-soaked shirt. The sergeant acknowledged that Melissa Coon, Allen mother, said the assailants called Allen “whiteboy,” but pointed out that is not part of the police report.

Quote
Some have gone as far to say the entire Allen Coon case is a hoax, directed by an angry mother who is upset at the school district and her living conditions in Kansas City. Other have even set forth the “black boogeyman” theory, blaming a “black” person for a crime that either never happened or clearly involved another suspect.

Questions: Why did his father report their name as "Coon" when it is, in effect "Goin"?

Why did Goins mother put this picture on her Facebook page dedictated to "Justice for Allen Coon"?

That's not him.

It's a photo of a burned Iraqi woman from a few years ago. (I wonder if she got it from Michele Malkin?)

This is one of the reasons nobody can take the word of white trash racists.

what a strange story..

To say the least. I don't know why my suspicions were raised from tge beginning. Maybe it was because of the pics of a white trash family sitting on their ramshackle porch with the gas can still laying here.
