The problem with most Republicans/conservatives is that there is no room for compromise; there is no middle ground; its their way or no way and America cannot function under those mindsets. This is why people such as Rep. John boehner/ Sen McConnell have to go in addition to the tea party mindsets currently running amok in political circles.
