Of all the proposed abortion legislation that's been drafted in state houses since the GOTP snagged seats in 2010 (I thought I read over 1100 abortion specific to date)...this one by Rep. Brown, takes the zealot cake. Doesn't matter if rape was the method of conception. Doesn't matter that your Father/Uncle/Brother dumped seed into that trusting/confused vagina...have that evidence or go to jail!
Those damn God Warriors (TM Nutty on this board) made this statement recently, while I was gimping around the net.
"We're not coming after your reproductive rights, it's your fetus killing we'd like stopped."
The mountain of dumb, in that single statement, is their reality. That's the way they perceive this issue. In absolutes. This was my response that got me my 3rd or 4th not so subtle threat of violence (yea me! I'm popular!)
"This is perfect. The irony of the statement, that misses the deeper, yet simple context, is amazing because you can't separate the two.
Reproductive rights and abortion can't be summarily divided...they are inextricably linked through biology. I know in the micro universe of black and white, with no gray, it doesn't intrude on your logic at all. It would only make sense if the woman had the immediate biological option, upon conception, to somehow keep the zygote viable outside of her body in some other self sustaining biological containment, as part of the natural process. And EVEN THEN, there are a hundred other options that must be considered. You can NEVER take life and death decisions out of the hands of the woman who may die, pre, during, or post and may suffer life long medical or mental problems as a result of pregnancy and childbirth...ever. Women are not faceless incubators...they are sentient beings whose life is NO LESS important and whose life is more complicated, than a bunch of old white, self righteous, religiously steeped bureaucrats would depreciate down to bronze age status because of their beliefs."
