Right-wingers have a disturbing habit of nursing their grievances across generations. They’re still convinced the wrong team won the Civil War, even though, back then, they were on the winning team. Yep, the Republicans led the Union, but they grieve for the Confederacy. And the mother of all contemporary right-wing grievances, believe it or not, is yet another battle they won. How many of these men confessed their wrongdoing before they were caught, or even admitted their shortcomin­gs immediatel­y when accused (if ever). Senator Weiner seemed very humbled with his apologies to everyone. He didn't just read a prepared statement, but accpeted questions from the press. Most others in this situation, simply read a statement.
 
I hope he does work hard to earn the trust of his consituent­s during the remainder of his term; they will be the ones to determine if he has.

Conservative media showman Andrew Brietbart took the microphone this afternoon at a press conference scheduled for Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY). TPM's Eric Lach is on scene for the presser and sent these dispatches:

"He was on the side when a few reporters noticed him. Then suddenly swarmed. So then he strolls up to the podium," Lach reports. "I don't know if he got permission or what. Now just ended after someone in back yells "thank you" and he says thank you and gets off stage. "
 
Breitbart told reporters he feels "vindicated" after the initial attacks on his reporting of the Weiner incident. He said the photos he published today are from a tip they got before the infamous Weiner tweet that eventually led to today's press conference.

"I've yet to meet her," Breitbart said of the woman who allegedly received the shirtless photos of Weiner and passed them along to Breitbart. ABC News is reportedly in contact with the woman and may publish her story later.

"This is a legitimate story," Breitbart said.

Like I said Weiner no has zero credibility and will forever known as sending crotch shots over the internet. Have some dignity and resign, members of his own party will soon be calling for him to resign because he is a liability. I used to like AW, but he has lost my respect.
Weiner's problem are by his own hand. He said there are 6 different chicks and would not deny they are all over age. If he would not have done the 10 days of lying I might have lessened my stance. The lying is what bothers me, not the dick shots.

It's not a D/R thing here. Weiner did nothing wrong except make a feeble attempt to escape embarrasment. Why should he resign? Because he lied? Sorry, my friend, that's a flimsy excuse*.

Politicians, Republican and Democrat, have lied every single day they're in office. Is there any difference between Weiner (or for that matter, Boehner) stating "I support the war in Afghanistan." a week ago and then stating "I don't support the war in Afghanistan." today? Should we demand he resign because he's a liar?

*This all reminds me of an embarrasing moment I had a couple of years ago. One, which in a half-assed manner, I did something that I shouldn't have. The reasons why were never revealed, the convoluted thinking behind it were never revealed, and the particulars were never revealed; other than "It's been discussed. It's over."

I made a speech similar to Weiner's but one that was directed only to a few people, ekg amongst them: "I screwed up and I'm sorry." Regardless of those words, I was called a liar and fraud by many of my respected friends, including you.

The human mind is capable of all kinds of stupid shit. Why create such a stir over Weiner's weiner when there's a lot more lies going on in Congress?
