Of course, since he's a Republican, nothing will come of thisWink

Quote
In the early years of his political career, Rick Perry began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at his family’s secluded West Texas hunting camp, a place known by the name painted in block letters across a large, flat rock standing upright at its gated entrance.

“Niggerhead,” it read.

Ranchers who once grazed cattle on the 1,070-acre parcel on the Clear Fork of the Brazos River called it by that name well before Perry and his father, Ray, began hunting there in the early 1980s. There is no definitive account of when the rock first appeared on the property. In an earlier time, the name on the rock was often given to mountains and creeks and rock outcroppings across the country. Over the years, civil rights groups and government agencies have had some success changing those and other racially offensive names that dotted the nation’s maps.

But the name of this particular parcel did not change for years after it became associated with Rick Perry, first as a private citizen, then as a state official and finally as Texas governor. Some locals still call it that. As recently as this summer, the slablike rock — lying flat, the name still faintly visible beneath a coat of white paint — remained by the gated entrance to the camp.

When i lived in and around ft.myers during the mid through late 80's...

the beach a mile and half north of what was generally called fort myers beach...

was called by the locals of lee county "nigger beach"...why i don't know, but can imagine...

it was very scenic and we could drive on it...no maintence, no life guards...nothing but nature.

Those were some goodtimes !!!

Isn't the fat lady in the process of singing that opera, ova...His own actions and lies caught up with him. I believe I heard the mainstream is declaring Romney the front runner now, which is about like choosing one rabid dog instead of another. That political family dates back to the 1700's.

Despite Perry's proclamations (ala' his "If you think it only takes 3000 dollars to bribe me, you're wrong." statement) of ignorance or innocence, seven people in the Post piece were quoted as stating the rock had the name up through this past summer.

What tickles me is Cain's reaction. He who has said blacks are too poor to belong to the Tea Party and were brainwashed to join the Democratic Party, is saying that this is "insensitive".

Yeah, right...

We basically have a he said/she said situation.
As an appraiser I have seen some subdivisions that have the term "colored section" in the legal description. I just saw one a couple weeks ago in either St. Cloud or Kissimmee, Osceola County representing.

If he repainted the rock in 1984, non story.
If he has recently repainted the rock then, Houston we have a problem.

But what the recent painting was just the last one of the many times it had been painted over ?

Would it still be a problem ?

How often did they visit the ranch would also be important...

The problem I have is there are people who saw the sign after it was supposedly painted. Is it true or a hit job, we will never know. If the sign was still there well after the purchase then the dumbass Bilderberg Boy deserves all the heat he is getting.

Agreed. If the privileged southern rich didn't already have a history of bigotry going back a few hundred years, I'd question this. However, given the obvious implications they knew it was there. Was there any news stories from 1983 or whenever declaring "Rich white privileged Perry family removes offensive racist words from rock on their land"?

No.

No.

Was there any story about the Rock at all during the time from 1983 til now ?

If not...was media protecting him...or whomever...why wasn't it a story before now ?

Now it could have impact...so now it becomes a story...hmmm

If you are looking for reasons to dislike...then they gave you what you wished for....

very convenient wouldn't you say...they had this info a longtime...
